    Hey Guys,

For those of you who are having success with clickbank is it better to redirect link to your affiliate page or redirect link to your website and do a review on the product and sell it from there. I am using YouTube to get the traffic. I have been redirecting to the sales page and getting $20 or so here and there.

    Thanks

What does it matter? Looks like you fishing for a niche.

I personally do direct link to check out. The risk in that's no cookie is created. You can create the cookie but loading on iframe. Sometimes products are good and sales page are horrible, sometimes the sales page is great and the product is horrible.

But using a landing page to hype up the visitor to then send them to the sales page, does not work. Use domain cloaking if you want to direct link.

Some products need a presell page and others will convert just fine on a direct link.

You just have to test direct linking with say, 500 hops. Then a presell page before the offer with 500 hops.

From there you would see what's more effective. Nothing is really cut and dry in IM, if it were, everyone would be a millionaire. So test, test, test.

if you were thinking of going down the review style site I have found that reviewing one product on the site just doesn't work anymore. People know that you are promoting it otherwise you wouldn't have bothered. For me I use 3 or 4 products and make the one I want to promote just that little bit better than the others and have one product that is completely useless. I also find that text links to the CB page work better than trying to get people to click on buttons.

    I completely agree that testing is almost e v e r y t h i n g.

We did find out, for example, that male oriented offers converted better with shorter presell pages with very to the point descriptions of each product while women preferred more detailed and elaborated comparison reviews.

Also, for some desperate crowds looking for immediate solutions to their conditions, presell pages seemed repetitive (in their eyes) and they bought more and showed more trust in the product when we sent them directly to the offer page.

I agree with what's been said above that you'll get different results according to the offer and audience, and that testing is the only way to find out...yet preselling (done right) will yield better ROI 9 out of 10 times.

Remember that by capturing emails (through pre sell pages), you'll be building a list that you can regularly sell to; thus moving from a one-time sell to a long-term income.

For example you mentioned you're in the health niche. Let's take the example of weight loss. In clinical practice it is well known that 95% of subjects who go on a diet will fail to achieve a 5% loss in bodyweight during a 6 month time frame. In order words it means that if you have a list of people wanting to lose weight today, it is likely that in a few months time they'll still be wanting to lose weight (they're probably going to be even more frustrated and eager to try out the next big thing)...

We have 11 years if experience, testing and optimizing presell pages according
to offers not limited to CB, yet we found very interesting results that have worked consistently for us. Using preselling pages should not be carved on stone as it can sometimes ironically lower conversion rates when matched with certain audiences.

Mike, while that may be true when comparing whether or not a sale occurs for the particular product that is being promoted, what about the value of capturing leads for future (and potentially long-term) sales?

For most cases, I would absolutely agree, but when the target customer of a certain audience tends buy 37% less with a presell page (tested with thousands of customers of that type), it's better to have an opt-in within the sales page or at the exit page (if one cares about the long term bottom line).

Fair point, but having an opt-in within the sales page would be lead-capture by the vendor's side, not the affiliate side.

That is correct if we're referring to affiliates using or not using presell pages.

In the case of the customer who converts less with a presell page, I would suggest the affiliate to capture their lead without actual preselling on their landing page (strictly an opt-in form and an incentive) along with a direct link to the vendor's page at the bottom and follow up emails for prospects who did not buy initially.

    ^^ Fully agree with that.

As long as the incentive offered is relevant and enticing enough, good opt-in rates should be achieved. Examples of incentives that can be used are "free mini-courses" on the topic (e.g. '3 day course shows you how to bake a cake to rival your nan's!"), "top tips" (e.g. 'receive our top ten tips to baking the perfect cake'), or free pdf reports (you can either ask the vendor for one, get a writer to write you one, or even merge together a number of good quality articles).

I would also add that it is obligatory to perceive and "sell" your incentive as it it was a product of its own. (very few marketers acknowledge and implement this important tip).

Very true! People tend to disregard freebies because they feel that since they're free, they must have no value. I remember when I was involved as a health professional in a diabetic education program run by a charity (and hence offered for free). We'd always have about half a class. Ironically, me and the rest of the team were also the same people running similar sessions at a private clinic, and we'd always be overbooked there. The difference? The free one was free, the private one was charged at $450 per session. People associated higher costs with higher quality, even though this was obviously not the case as it was run by the same team.

On a website, it is actually very easy to test this. Have an opt-in saying something like "subscribe for your free report". Then have another version saying something like "get this $17 report totally free if you subscribe today". The one putting value on the freebie will always out-convert the other one.

    Please do not think!

Start building your review site right now and think about how successful you are later.

In our years of experience we have seen many partners go down simply because of procrastination paralysis.

    Go for it this second.
