So direct affiliate links don't work with CJ? You have to have a domain to redirect to your affiliate link?

They require that an image (if its a text link, a 1px x 1px image will be displayed) be displayed to forward to the correct affiliate link. Check the HTML code for anything - you will notice there's an a tag, and an image tag, regardless if its a text, banner, etc type link.

Simply, no. You must have their code (or manipulate it in a blackhat sort of way) on your page to get a referral.

Yeah, unfortunately I missed out on a few conversions by just using my domain redirected. You either have to feed em a cookie or make them click again. At least I think you can just feed the cookie, never done any of that.

And if you send then blank referer, they will ask you the traffic source details.

The way to overcome this is using custom referer or iframe.

if you being stricly white hat, it depends on what the say, sometimes if you contact the affilate manager for what you want to promote, they may allow you to direct link.

In your account you need to have a domain registered. But really you can send traffic directly aslong as its an action taken by a user on their own. Not automatically when they reach a page.

I just got an email about this from CJ. I had videos on youtube demonstating the product. I had links from the description linking to my site. The links were made with maxblogpress's ninja affiliate plugin, so it looks like a page link but its cloaking your affiliate link and goes to the advertisers site. Anyway, Cj said they were canceling my affiliation with that advertiser and will be asking them if they wanted to reverse my commissions for direct linking. All this over a $60 commission, 1 sale, which I had been promoting this advertiser since oct08. They also said if I did not respond within 48 hrs my cj account would be canceled within 15 days. I replied and got an automated response about a week ago but have heard nothing since. So I would be careful direct linking even if its through a redirect on your website.
