    Hey guys!

I know there have been many threads about whether or not attending college/uni, but still I would like some comments/opinions from this great community :)

So basically, I am attending uni because of my parents. I study mechatronics, though my Life Goals have to do with this career, I think I could learn everything I would learn by myself.

The problem here is that I really don't want to attend uni because I would like to follow my dreams, build them from scratch and see success :)

I think of uni as a waste of time (that is, of course, my humble opinion :) ), what do you think guys? Should I continue on college/uni?! Or drop out?!

As title, any comment is appreciated! :)

Thanks guys for reading and commenting!

I really think that pursuing your interest is definitely something important. If what you like is IM and you can earn a passive income i don't see why you need to go to university. Remember to follow what your passion is and not what your parents think you should do.

If you feel confident enough to learn it yourself, then yes school would definitely be a waste of time and money. There is a lot of successful people in the world that have made it without school, you could be one of them.

If you're paying for school and aren't giving it everything you have you should take a break from it.

If you drop out, aren't you going to miss your friends and the pretty girls you've met there?

But if you really have a vision, something on a grand scale, and school is only getting in the way of getting there, then you should pursue your dreams.

Attending a University is always better. It helps you when you are facing troubles in IM. Can find a good, real 9-5 job if you have a good degree :)

One of my few regrets is that I never went to college/university.

You don't NEED to go to college to be successful but it CAN open doors for you in the future.

If you really hate it then leave but in my opinion you should go the distance and finish the course.
Mechatronics looks like it could be interesting.
Had to look it up because I got confused with Megatron and thought you were studying something about Transformers.

I would love it, if my Son went to college/university.
I am currently trying to encourage him to make the most out of the opportunities available to him but ultimately it will be his decision.

I don't want him to have the same regret I have.
I am even thinking about studying with The Open University.

It's never too late, you can still go! I know tons of people that have gone back to school in their 40s.

I'm attending it for the experience and some career security. I'm a freshman and absolutely having a blast so far. Dropping out is no fun. This doesn't mean I'm not pursuing my dreams either.

Personally I would wait till summer and spend those 3 months doing everything you can to make money and see if you have the ability to earn a passive income online.

Going to college parties in your 40s is sketchy. People will just think you're looking for your kid, or maybe the landlord.

Yeah, I am definitely considering it.

I don't mind all the young girls thinking I am a middle aged perv (I am) I would just be worried about the wife finding out.
Or even worse, hitting on one of my Son's friends.

Couldn't agree with you man, sorry! But I really saw a lot of people going back to colleges in their 40s. Some are taking major subjects while others are taking even language program(s), like Chinese or Spanish.

Hi, in my opinion if you want to be successful in life in something, you have to do it not only good, you have to be one step ahead of everyone. And if you won't feel good as student, and will feel deep within that this somehow stops you, waste your time and so on, I wouldn't continue that way. I mean, if you really want to do something great, you have to love it, and want it, once it becomes your passion, you are like addicted to it, no matter what it is, and when you really do something with passion, you will be truly good at it. On my example, I'm spending a lot of time on computer, online, read stuff, learn new things, a few months ago I decided to learn seo. However I hate computer science at my school, it's totally waste of my time, teacher have no clue, what he is talking about, we learn shit. But within a few months I was able to start from nothing, I was so noob, that when I bought my 1st domain, I was waiting about week to see it only, untill friend of mine told me I need hosting, I was like, wtf you mean. But I learned a lot because I wanted and I made a huge progress. But when you will really feel like you don't like your collage, I don't think it is worth it, better start doing something you really want, believe that you will achieve what you want and work hard, it's your life.

how much time your uni takes? 4 hours, 8 hours?
if it takes less than 5 hours then you should finish that thing as it will help you in future (not that you need it badly)

Talking about my experience. My education never worked for my job interview nor in my salary hikes. Only my Skills worked which got me job and salary hikes so i don't think it's important. I just feel that it's waste of time to do. Better start doing practical things and learn what you want and applying it in your business. There are many examples where people felt that they will waste time if they do school or college and they put their time in their own business and now they are BIG.

It's all about practical experience which i feel, you can't get it at any university or college.

If you are really planning on taking the advice of anonymous online strangers in regards to deciding whether to drop out of college then I suggest you drop out immediately.

I study for 3 years in Uni, then drop out. Trust me, you'll do IM all the time you are at university because this's what you are interested. You won't be interested to attend class or do some shit like curriculum activities.

I realize that what is the point of being in university when I don't even care to study at all. My grade is shit, I can't pass subjects. Then I decided to quit because I make a living out of IM.

Sup OP, imade a thread on dropping out of school a month or two back, so I want to share you my story.

This will be my 4th year, and this will also be my 4th time changing my major (I won't graduate anytime soon)

I was on the fence of dropping out a month ago (already dropped 3 classes and am paying more than a grand in withdrawal/late drop fees)

With that said, I am dropping out of my university and will be going to my local college. A lot of business owners have told me to finish it because it can't hurt you (unless you're making 250k+ profit)

Granted, I do own a company and I don't make that much in profit, but when I become that successful, I'll give the whole "dropping out" more thoughts.

My business friend said to me "so what if you waste your time and graduate with a bad GPA? The way people will see it is that this kid was a fighter who sucked it up."

That one line he said made me stay in school. Ultimately, the decision is yours bud.
