    Hello,

Which is better? A diesel car or one that runs on gasoline?
Which is faster/ has the best acceleration?

Lol :p how many high end sport cars are diesel ? not many . If you are looking for sport car which goes fast and all that stuff , gasoline is your choice, ofc you can try find some diesel cars with +500hpb which are not trucks :p

If you are looking to drive something which is economic or so ( cheap driving) then diessel

Petrol cars are faster, just look at super cars, F1 cars and so on. This is because petrol burns faster than diesel. However, with the advance in Diesel technology, the gap is a little closing between diesel and petrol. Audi are planning to launch a diesel run supercar in the near-future.

Diesel is awesome, but gas is faster. As previously stated, diesel is getting a lot better these days.

Diesel will get you more fuel economy and possibly a longer lasting engine. Diesel is not as stinky as it used to be, either :), plus you can convert it to run on biodiesel.

Gas engines can be converter to run on propane.

If you're looking for acceleration, a gas engine will be easier to find performance parts for (I think).

I'm talking about cars here.. not trucks, as there are some really fast diesel trucks.

You are really comparing apples and oranges. There are so many other factors you need to consider; gear ratio, horsepower, torque, etc. Most of the responses so far are inaccurate. Are you planning on racing or towing? Is fuel economy important? What is the cost of diesel/gasoline where you live? Diesel engines typically last longer than gas engines but are more expensive initially (at least they are in the US).

Nah, I'm gonna buy an Audi a3, not for racing. Just for the daily routine, going here, going there.
Fuel economy isn't that important. I just need to know which one is better in terms of acceleration and speed. Also, which engines have a better health? The ones that run on diesel or gas?

I can speak in the truck sence. A truck that is run on diesel will pull alot more weight faster than a truck thats run on gas. and get better milage too. My chev 2500 gas gets 10 miles to the gallon empty. My dodge 2500 diesel get 29 mpg empty.
