I read today an email of a SEO blogger who said that his completly new niche websites became much harder to rank nowadays than a few months ago. He said, that it is not possible anymore to rank a website fast (even with targeting low competition KWs), which is only a few weeks online. Instead, it became much more a slow and steady process.

    Is that really the case?

Would it maybe make more sense to create several website first with about 5 articles and after 2 months put more content and backlinks on them instead creating 1 website, concentrating on it and when its finished starting the next one?

I know we will get all sorts of answers now some guys do rank their websites fast others cant...my guess is that sites age plays a important part in rankings which is logical when you think about it...also i think it depends on niche youre in,if youre in insurance niche dont expect to rank fast as oposed to some other low competition niches

Thats not right.. for sure you can rank new website pretty fast with the right strategy and high quality backlinks

Domain age helps alot in the long term and keeping your ranks steady once you reach higher grounds

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am talking about niche sites targeting low competition KW´s. I edited now.

When I did my research on it, I found this qoute of M.Cutts:

"While the importance of domain age has been hotly debated for years, in fact, there is little weight given to domain age, especially after a site is 2 or 3 months old. For a new site, domain age is a factor, because typically a new site does not have much content on it, so for that reason it will be more difficult to rank well in the search index. After a few months, site rankings can be based on giving visitors the good content they are looking for, so at that point age is no longer such an important issue."

So basicly he is saying that the age does not really matter, a new website can´t naturally rank in the beginning because of the lack of content, which makes sense.

Of course Big G won´t tell us all it´s ranking factors, but I dont see a point to lie on this subject, because in contrast to other factors you can´t fake the age of the domain.

With the right strategy you mean targeting many low competition KW´s and lots of HQ content combined with a slow and steady HQ backlink mix?
