Hi, looking at top rankers in google I came accross the site onlinegames.net, which ranks #3 for the search term: online games (2,740,000 global exact searches). Curious, I analyzed the site and found 144k indexed pages using "site:". This is a free game site, so I'm thinking, wtf is all this content. Well, it turns out, there there are 63k "/profiles". Most the profile pages I saw just had a name and a link pointing back to the home page. Most of these must be fake for two major reasons: (1) most of the profiles I visited (albeit few relative to 63k) had 0 games played [who signs up to play no games?], and (2) the current members on is 10 with 150 guests, and if you look through archive.org it has almost always been ~ <15 members logged even though members have grown from 15k to 63k members over the last 2 years. What is the purpose of the fake profiles?
My theory is that he has greatly ballooned his site's content appearance through massive, fake profile building, thereby increasing his SERP standing.
failures on his part: (1) showing logged in members/guest information, (2) showing usage records for each member.
It seems he owns many other domains, and I would love to see how far he has extended this scheme. Or, could I just be nutz?
