My website was working without any problems until ~8 pm this evening. When I wanted to access it, it was showing a database error. I thought it's just a temporary problem, but it was not going away. I checked my config file (yes, I'm on WP), and its info was not 100% correct. I fixed it and the website was working once again.

However...the text editor was gone, the preview button won't show any changes, there are problems with picture uploads, the text won't show when you are typing it and much more.

I fixed the text editor problem by installing a custom editor plugin, but there are still some of the problems, which I have no idea how to fix (could anyone help, by the way?)

Is there any chance I was hacked? If yes, how could I protect myself? I changed my info, both my hosting/ftp info and my website login info.

    Thanks!

Doubt you were hacked. One of your plugins probably blew something all to shit. Save your data and do a fresh install. and don't feel bad for using wordpress. Most peeps around here seem to use it or similar. Personally I prefer my own CMS and this is why. Too much clusterfuck to deal with.

    anyway. Fresh install

    Thanks for your reply!

So I can save all my data, including users, posts and perhaps theme settings then import it later or I can save only SOME of the data? Also, would disabling plugin help? I could disable them one by one to see which one caused the problem.

as long as your data is not dependent on addons you should be ok. You would need to export only the data from the tables that deal with vanilla wordpress and leave the rest alone. Install fresh wordpress and then import your data. If you are using wordpress I am assuming you have no idea how to do that but there is probably an article how somewhere on their support forums

In short yes it can be done.

Yeah, I am not really familiar with that backup-restore feature since I was hoping I will never need it...awful. I will definitely look it up and hopefully find a solution.

    Thanks for your advice!

Have you cleared your cache and tried it again?

Sometimes the cache fucks things up.

Browser cache? If yes, then I did. No luck, unfortunately.

Then the only choice I can see here is to restore your website to a day earlier.
