OK, this is primarily for relative newbies, but also for everyone else shitting bricks about the new update.

    1. This update is a clusterfuck, Google already admitted to it. We should see some tweaking shortly. So sit tight and stop bitching.
    2. Even if this update were permanent, keep in mind that Google will ALWAYS be one step behind blackhatters. So find new ways to game the system.
    3. If you can share specifics about your situation with the rest of us, do so. If not, shut the fuck up and go back to work. Shouting "Matt Cutts sucks!" is not very constructive at this point.
    4. If all this bouncing around every few weeks makes you uneasy and you have to start all over again every time, sell your sites and go get a burger flipping job. I'm sure you'll find several people on here willing to buy your sites.

    Over and out.

Great post. Too many people complaining about the update. It will probably, most likely, be tweaked and edited soon, hopefully. We just gotta sit tight.

Personally, I have not been affected, (only had positive results), but for the others who lost their supposedly "$4000 daily income from their site" needs to calm down.

The more posts we get every minute, the more annoying it gets. I can see a new thread popping up every now and then about the blogspot page ranking 1. IT'S JUST TEMPORARY. Google will probably remove that and fix all this real soon. Sit tight.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Relax.

For me my main money site has only had positive results too with my main competition seemingly vanishing for all of our main keywords. I hope it stays like that until after Christmas but somehow I doubt that I am that lucky.

I guess for a lot of n00bs, me included, this is the first time we have seen any google update like this and I guess it is easy to panic about it. I just bought 15 mns last week and now I'm starting to wonder what I am going to do with them but you are right, all we can do is ride it out and see what happens when it all settles down. Probably just Mr Cutts messing with us.

Leith & Damage are right, people need to calm down!

No SEO isn't dying, and no this algorithm won't stay active in its current fashion. We've seen a ton of algorithmic updates over the course of the past three months, and most of them haven't "stuck" for the long term. Freaking out, and changing your immediate strategy right now is ridiculous. Give it some time to balance out, things will return back to normal once the dust settles.

Clearly someone at Google's pissed off and putting a ton of pressure on the search engine spam team, which is why we are seeing crappy, low quality algorithm updates being released in mass quantities. My guess is that they are reviewing the data, and live feedback of each update and will roll back accordingly in the near future once they get enough data.

Superlinks - hats of to you. I was going to write something similar to that.

First of all, I find this all pretty ironic and dramatic as yesterday night I had watched 2012 (a movie where the world is going to end bla bla), and today I find many people complaining as if the world is going to end. It's just an UPDATE. SEO is not dead as far as I'm concerned. Google will do something, cuz if they don't, they're in a fucked up position. There's been many updates in the past year and some of there were quite bad, but did I, and many other web masters give up? No. You just carry on doing what worked for you. I'm pretty sure this will be fixed soon.

Getting all freaked out isn't going to help. You will probably do more harm than good in the end. Give Google some time. I don't blame them. Just wait, and something will happen. Posting "Blogspot Page Ranking Pos 1" and "Google Update - where is my site gone?" threads won't help.

Just grab a coffee and watch the drama. It will probably end soon and you can go back to your link building.

Cool post and agreed. But would love to see where this is "This update is a clusterfuck, Google already admitted to it. We should see some tweaking shortly. So sit tight and stop bitching." Do you have a link or source for this info? thanks
