Well yesterday my site was ranked 101 in Google (the site is only 3 weeks old). I've been using PRStorm on a very low level (and many, many proxies) to get a few extra backlinks from niche related sites..

This morning when I checked it appears that my site has dropped 200-300 places for my keyword phrase... I did change a lot of content yesterday, including the content on index.html, and many product pages and graphics. The only thing I can think of is that I put 2 articles from other sites on mine with a legitimate link to the actual article. After seeing that today I instantly took them off though..

With SEO Tool for firefox I'm able to see that my Cache Data is from Feb. 17, 2009..

Why would Google suddenly drop me 200 ranks? Are they just re-adjusting the ranks.. or could I have gotten "Sand Boxed?"

FYI when i do site:domain.com all of my pages are still indexed by Google!

FYI #2: I'm still Rank 8 on Yahoo for my keyword phrase!

it will keep going up and down for the next few months

i had an old site that i did seo on and it was ranked in the 30s but then it dropped from the face of the earth (not even in top 1000 for the keyword) and it came back into the 20s, then dropped into 80s and now back into 30s

google will do that to you especially for very competitive keywords

you guys are doing something seriously wrong. it's normal to see ranks fluctuate 1-3 positions maybe even a page or two but to drop below a thousand... Something's just not right. Occasionally Google's algorithm has a huge change which makes you disappear for a day but if it's more than that you should be concerned about your methods...

well.. i heard google is really updating themself a lot.
Its easier to rank now.
So perhaps other people are ranking better?
or perhaps its an update?

same thing happened to a couple of my websites in the past 2-3 months but ur position should recover... give it a week or two

my competition stayed the same rank is the annoying part.

I am sitting at 170 for my keyword in google... and no1 in yahoo... the domain is about a month old..

I am getting about 50-100 links a day using the keyword as anchor text... the keyword I am going after only has 80k competing pages when using "" , but gets over 60k searches a month.. so it should be relatively easy to rank for I would have thought...

But I aint budging... bugger it.. I guess it will take time I spose..

are you linking to the inside page too? i had too many links to my home page and i wasnt ranking well, then i added a ton to inside pages and the homepage ranks WAY better now. I think only 10-20% of links should be to the homepage for solid long term ranking as far as i know

Also you should mix up the keyword too, "retro baseball cards" should also have "baseball cards" "retro cards" "retro baseball" etc... you get the point. the new algorithm likes it mixed as far as i know, but keep the majority for your target keyword. hope that helps
