We all thought that Google Me was going to hit Facebook hard in the next 1-2 years, but it looks like 4 kids from New York university didn't wait that long:D

Instead they created a social network called Diaspora. As you'll read in the article, this social network is a hell lot better because of privacy settings compared to Facebook which we all know is run by that motherfucker kid who thinks he is god and can do whatever he wants with people's private info:rolleyes:

The most interesting part is these 4 kids had a goal to raise $10k at first, but then a lot more people donated(including Mark Zuckerburg himself wtf???) and the sum went to $20 million, wow talk about thinking out of the box man, these kids just got rich in no time:eek:

Anyway, read the full article here:
http://hardgeek.org/diaspora-the-open-source-social-network-will-be-launched-on-september-15

Also look at the source link at the end of the article and that will direct you to Diaspora's blog, your thoughts about this?

Can this really beat Facebook in being #1 in the social networks game?
I personally want so, as I can't stand anymore That Zuckerburg bitch stealing and selling our private information...

If I remember correctly, there's already a thread about this.

Sorry I didn't check it out, I thought it wasn't shared here before, I heard about Diaspora for the 1st time today and thought you guys might check this out as well, if it has been posted, mods can delete my thread.

It looks interesting. However..."The team also plans on creating a one-click sign-up version for those not interested in hosting their own Diaspora site."

Wait, what? Host it?

Then i will must look this new website, as this probably a huge market for internet marketer.

Sorry for being rude, but who the fuck cares about moms and grandmas, unless you have some cooking offers to promote to them, they are no good for us marketers:D

That's different with kids and people at 18-25 age, I can promote any free offer or ringtones or adult offers as well to them as much as I want and make shit ton of money.

Whenever I read "Google killer", "facebook killer" or any "compete with more than established multibillion companies, I kinda run away.

I don't say that it won't be good, that it won't be popular but competing with FB - I don't thinks so pals..

One very interesting thing about Diaspora is that FB Kid Mark Zuckerberg is an early seed investor in it. They collected some 100,000$ for development funds and Mark donated a good percentage of that.

Yeah, that's the part(you can see in my thread too) when I said WTF???
Diaspora will compete with FB and Mark donates funds for this project?

Maybe he will offer a huge sum of money to buy Diaspora and remove the competition and then take those privacy settings and use them in FB, that's just my opinion, what do you guys think?

Maybe he wants to show us that he is not afraid of competition, I'm waiting him to fund Google Me too :)

So if I understand this correctly, there won't be one big central "Diaspora Site" (like Facebook.)

Instead, individual users will download this and install on their own hosting. (Or on some hosted site, ala Blogger.) Then their site will communicate with other Diaspora sites.

Kinda like if your Facebook page were a blog, and your friends status updates, etc. were RSS feeds.

Am I understanding this correctly? If so, there will really be some tremendous opportunities if this thing takes off.
