    http://www.geekwire.com/2017/amazon...iate-sellers-favor-flat-commission-structure/

Well its official, Amazon finally started to take advantage of it being the biggest affiliate in the market and put rates based on category. Now anyone that was really a high-volume seller on Amazon like me who was doing more than 1000 sales a month is going to see a huge drop in their commission.

My monthly volume incentive was taking me up to 8% and now for my category I'm going be stuck at a steady 5.5% no matter what I do. That is a 37% difference. imagine one day you wake up and your losing 37% of your revenue.

This also could not have come at a worse time because my product is seasonal and sales go up in the summer.

I'm going to see what I can do regarding looking at some other affiliates around in the market.

But this was definitely a good short-term but bad long-term move on Amazons part I would assume a great amount of their sales were drawn to them by all of us affiliates taking the top spots on Google now that the revenues and volume incentive is down there is more incentive to find other sources to make that sale that offer a higher percentage.

I think the only winner here will be those affiliates that were making under 30 sales a month. Just goes to show whenever you feel like you're in a good business or spot you can get knocked away you always need to diversify your earnings.

Maybe I'm going to start going back to client SEO -_-

Wow unbelievable, and here I am working on an amazon affiliate site. I think I'll go back to clickbank. It may be harder to make a sale but at least I don't have to make too many to get a decent income.

I don't believe you. These changes have been annonced on the 23rd of Feb. You're telling that you had a volume high enough to get to 8% on a monthly basis but you didn't even check your account until now, especially during one of the biggest update Google made in the past two years? You're either slacking or full of shit ;)

That sucks for sure. It's just like when casinos started to pay 6 to 5 on your blackjack instead of 3 to 2. They're the house and they can change the rules anytime they want. Not a damn thing we can do about it except take our action somewhere else.

It looks like some categories are still pretty good but i would guess people would start gravitating more towards those categories and make seo harder for them...the highest categories i see are...digital video games 10%, furniture and home 8%, apparel and jewelry 7%, Amazon at Co. 7%

I was in the outdoors niche which has now dropped to 5.5%.

I just did the math and 75% of all my sales were from the outdoor category. sob and summer is coming.

My biggest concern here is that these percentages are going to keep going down. if Amazon decides to keep lowering them I'm sure a lot of people are still going to stay onand being the biggest affiliate out there in a corporation I could see them continue to milk it.

Amazon news 2020, "we just decided to make our affiliate system much easier for everyone get excited were making one affiliate rate for everything 4% across the board!"

This is why the most I ever set Amazon up on a site for monetization was 50%, and usually lower. So I am not dependant on a single source.

As long as most people prefer Amazon you have to use it. Dont focus on them and focus on building more websote, getting more traffic and trying with new monetization methods.

This is business and if I able to save money while maintaining traffic. Then I would without slight of hesitation

It has nothing to do with what I sell or don't sell. Amazon e-mailed their affiliates on February 23rd, and the changes were made 15 days ago. All I'm saying is for someone who used to do enough sales to get your fees to 8%; you're late to the party. Add the fact that not even a week ago Google struck us with one of their biggest updates in the past two years lead me to believe that you're lying about your income.

    Just my two cents

Yeah going to be shifting my focus a bit going through my entire site and switching to another affiliate, I might actually do better since my affiliate offers a 100 day cookie and i have a large 1000 usd avg sale product which people usually dont buy same day they need some research so im probably losing about 65% of my sales but maybe gaining that 65 from amazon being huge and people buying other products. Going to be a pain in the ass though switching the entire site, going to back it up switch for a month, see what revenue is like and compare.

I wanted to pay someone off freelancer to do it but i dont think i could trust anyone with my admin pass and affiliate pass.

The conversion rate on amazon is extraordinary. Although most affiliates are negatively effected by this move, i doubt many will leave.

It might be a bit harder than just switching from Amazon to another, because does your new affiliate have brand recognition? Does it have a good sales funnel to dump people into? Trusted source for buyer AND affiliate? Lots of factors.

I funnel the through my affiliate offers, starting from high priced items to the lower priced items, eventually you will find the price point that makes them happy to buy.

So the item is $1,000 and you make 1,000 sales a month of products? You seem to like this number 1,000...
