Greetings! I recently came into acquisition of a fairly lucrative domain name for my niche and I am trying to determine which type of redirection would best be beneficial to my site in terms of branding and SEO.

The new domain name that I purchased is something that gets searched often, so I'm inclined to make it a redirect with masking so as to get it to rank on google, however this brings up the issue of my visitors not quite understanding what website they are on. While my actual site relates to the new domain name, it will still create confusion when they see the new domain in the address bar and a different site logo, and that's something I'd like to try and avoid, while still utilizing my new domain for SEO purposes.

I've read that a 302 temporary redirection can get indexed and ranked on search engines, however it was an old forum post, and admittedly I am not overly knowledgeable yet on cloaking and redirection to ascertain the validity of that statement.

Any tips or information you would be willing to provide would be greatly appreciated! Perhaps its just one of those things that will come to pros and con's list, SEO vs Branding.

    Thanks!
