    Hi guys,
I'm about to start my AdSense journey. Right now I'm trying to figure out which KW to go with. I've found a couple of niches, but one of them seems to be the most profitable (at least that's what I think). But since I'm completely new to AdSense & Co. I don't know the first thing about KW research, the importance of KW criteria, etc. So I was hoping you guys would be able to help.

    Here's what I did:

    1. Did some research and found my KW (~10k exact searches, High AdWords competition, CPC of ~2,55$)
      • Additionally: Are these good stats for a profitable KW?
    2. Found a couple of KW related sub niches and already came up with a structure of my website and articles

I realize it may not look like much, but KW research isn't that easy for a complete noob as me. So now that you know what I already did, here's what I'm struggling with at the moment.

    My problems:

    1. Competition check
I tried to figure out how strong the competition for my KWs was, but I'm not sure if I did it correctly. I downloaded SEOquake for FireFox and checked the Top 10 for my exact KW and intitle:"MY KEYWORD", but I'm not quite sure if SEOquake shows me correct stats. My competition's websites PRs were below PR4 9 out of 10 times and age of the websites could not be determined.

    • Is my competition check correct?
    • Should I consider more/different methods of checking my competition?
    • Which criteria are the most important ones to determine how fierce my competition is going to be?

    2. KW criteria

This one obviously comes before the competition check, but since I already have a KW, I decided to list this 2nd. My problem while finding a suitable KW was that neither do I live in an english speaking country nor is english my first language. And since it's my top priority to write high quality content, I won't be writing in english, because my english is quite good, but not good enough to write really valuable content.

My first language is spoken by approx. 80-110Mill people around the globe (compared to 313Mill citizens in the US alone) and therefore the same KW I choose will naturally be searched 3-5x more in english, than it will be in my language. This will obviously cause a major difference when it comes setting KW criteria.
    • Will I have to adjust the criteria for my KWs?
    • If so, which adjustments will be neccessary?
    • Important: Will I also have to scale down the way I measure my KWs? This is hard to explain so I'll give you an example. Let's say in the US a good KW would have ~20.000 exact searches/month, a CPC of ~2.50 - 3.50+ $, high AdWortds competition and a fairly low SEO competition. In my country there are only 1/4 of the amount of ppl living as there are in the US. So would a KW with ~5.000 exact searches/month (20.000 * 1/4) in my language be as valuable as the KW with 20k searches in the US and should I aim for that amount, because going for a 20k exact searches KW in my language would be equally hard to rank as it would be for an 80k (20k * 4) exact search KW in the US? Hope you get what I'm trying to explain here.

    Thanks in advance guys.
