    hi!
i took one of my posted articles and integrated it on the homepage and deleted the original post from the blog... my site was ranking on #9, few hours later it was ranking #230. that was a 3 days ago. now i did 301 redirect from the deleted post url to the homepage. i also build some more quality links. but my site is not moving from #230 position...
can someone explain what is going on? anything else i should do? is the 301 redirect good or doing more harm?

Redirect will take off the page from Google.

Google bot comes to non existing page > 301 to Home. So Google bot understands the real page is no more, and it will be deindexed.

If I was in your shoes, I would get another or the same article posted on that URL again. And that too, as quick as I can.

i restored the deleted article....and removed the 301 redirect.
i haven't removed the article from the homepage yet.

Have the article on the front page link back to the article that you deleted, but then put back.

Why did you remove the post in the first place when you had a Page 1 ranking?

i wanted the homepage to rank higher...plus the article was perfect for the frontpage.
i am stuck since couple weeks on #9 position...not much sales! i need top 5 or top 3 position.
