Definitively, can sites see your MAC address?

    Some people think they can with cookies. Does anyone know for sure?

    From a simply networking standpoint. No.

    If they installed something on your computer that then reports back to them. Yes.

    What for example could they install to do this? Would it require your permission?

    The regular dodgy stuff. To be honest, if someone is going to install Spyware, or a "Virus" or some sort. Then getting your mac address is probably going to be the least of their worries.
