Debate me: There's no point in competing in SEO for a digital marketing firm - ?

Hello SEO Lords,

Would love to get your input on a debate. I will post both viewpoints as bullets:

-My father is creating a newly rebranded marketing company. He wants to do regular blogging for SEO purposes. This is the standard thing to do and seems logical for basic SEO benefits.

-My opposing viewpoint: I think that's it pointless investing time in a blog for SEO purposes for the digital marketing field. For example, in So Cal area, where he's located - there are dozens of digital marketing companies with much stronger resources.

Beyond the So Cal area, there are thousands of digital marketers competing for the same search terms. It seems like a waste of resources making a blog for SEO purposes when most of our leads will come from direct sales prospecting and contact.

... I would love your input on this. If you agree/disagree, feel free to call out flaws in either of our arguments. I won't be offended and would love the discourse.

Blogging is just a part of SEO, especially within IM niche.

Is there anything else that he wants to do ?
Perhaps he will be posting those articles in HA pages like Forbes on daily basis ?

I'd like to express my disagreement with this one. For most of the IMers, who knew what they were up to, blogging had turned out to be profitable. From pillar content to authentic links and monetization, there's a necessity to perform numerous trails before you're set for the final revenue game. I admit that it's one of those branches of IM which may seem to eat up a lot of time, but never feebly potent.
Thankful to manifest my view.:)
