    Dealing With Hangovers

A hangover is something that just about all of us have experienced at some point in time. After spending a night out drinking, you may wake up in the morning with your head feeling heavy and your stomach in knots. At that moment, you probably decided that you would quit drinking, to prevent this awful feeling from happening again. No matter how hard you may have tried though, chances are that it happened again.

Even though we all know that alcohol can lead to hangovers, the cause of a hangover is something we don?t know. Alcohol does have some positive effects on the body, although it can also lead to negative effects such as hangovers. Some doctors will actually recommend it, while others will tell you never to drink it. Even though drinking is good, moderation is the key. The easiest way to avoid hangovers is to drink in moderation - and never get drunk.

As many of us already know, whisky, bourbon, and wine can result in a much harder hangover than vodka or beer. For many people, chemicals in wines or yeast found in unfiltered beers can result in headaches. Beer, wine, and liquor can be fun and relaxing to drink, although if you aren?t careful you can easily get a headache or a hangover.

Even though the cause for hangovers is unknown, it has been proven that the headaches associated with hangovers stem from dehydration. With alcohol being a diuretic, it will make you urinate quite often. Therefore, if you drink alcohol or beer on a daily basis, your body will remain dehydrated. When you wake up in the morning with a bad headache and turn to coffee, which is also a diuretic, the process of dehydration actually gets worse.

You?ll also need to do something with the alcohol that has been left in your body. Even though a hangover can make you want to stay in bed, the secret to getting yourself back on track is movement. To rid your body of the alcohol, you?ll need sweat. Sweating gets the toxins out of your body, and helps you feel better. You can exercise or have sex to get over a hangover, as the heat your body emits will be too much for alcohol toxins to handle.

Although a hangover can be a bit of a pain, it can be prevented. The first rule of drinking any type of alcoholic beverage is to never drink on an empty stomach. If you eat a good meal before you start drinking, you?ll find that the food can help you digest the alcohol much better. When the alcohol starts to attack your stomach, you should consider eating foods that are high in fat, such as cheese. You can also sip some olive oil or drink some water. The secret to making sure that you don?t get a hangover when drinking is to drink in moderation and never let yourself get too drunk.

Beer is digested very fast by your body, which is why you should always drink beer first if you plan to mix drinks. Beer is digested the fastest, and will also help your body to absorb any other drinks you have faster. You should always keep in mind that when you drink alcohol, your body will get dehydrated. Any type of alcohol that you consume is a diuretic, therefore you should always drink water with your alcohol. Alcohol can dehydrate your body very fast - which is why you?ll need water to ensure that you stay hydrated.

Now, I've been surfing for like 10 years now but this is the first time I stumbled on a really useful article. So it was dehydration that was causing those suffering? I thought it was because of the sin of drinking and I woke up in purgatory. So it's best to chase alcohol with a lot of water?

Totally... a pint of water before you go to sleep will prevent the worst of hangovers.... unless you throw up the water in which case you're screwed anyways! :p

Alcohol actually damaging your brain cells (nerve cells) and one way of reducing this is by taking a mild vitamin E (the variant in olive oil) BEFORE your binge. Try taking two spoonfuls of olive oils to minimise the effect of alcohol on the brain cells and the liver. Also eat a fatty snack (this time it is ok) as this will delay the effect of drunkedness. hope this helps.

I always take a couple of asprin and drink a big glass of water. The asprin helps to open up your blood vessels, and the water will keep you hydrated while you sleep off the alcohol.

water before bed is the trick. a shower can also help, both before bed and after waking up.

for wine, make sure you are drinking good quality stuff (not always a matter of price but usually). good wine can be drunk in quantities up to 2 litres without adverse effect, while two glasses of the bad stuff and you'll be reeling the next day from the headache.

A hangover is a persistent reminder of how much of a good time I had the night before. Haven't had one in a long while, which will explain my bad moods :D

I agree. After a night out, I drink as much Gatorade as I can get down over a two hour window, before bed. I make sure I leave a bottle next to the bed, so I can easily rehydrate if I wake up during the night. If worst comes to worst, any liquid will do. But thirst quenchers have a nice balance of sugar and salt that helps everything absorb better. Give it a shot...you'll be happy you did in the morning.

Usually a few bottles of Minute Maid orange soda works wonders for curing my hangovers!

The f#ck this place turning into? A mini Wiki?

I'm gonna give you 2 surefire ways to clear a hangover,
and it's going to offend some of you, so if you got a set of
virgin ears between your shoulders, divert yourself to your bible.
Almost 27yrs old now and got plenty of background in this area :)

    1. Drink more beer. Not liquor. Drink beer, if you can't stomach it the next day then your just a p#ssy and shouldn't have been drinking to begin with.

    And for the raunchy....

    2. Get your girl, take her someplace private and have sex upside down. Really don't care what she does, but it's imperative that your upside down so that the blood rushes to your head. Try not to be a 2 pump cheap, you should make this last for at least 4-5 intense minutes. When finished, get up and and for the first 20-30 seconds your going to have a TERRIBLE pounding migraine, but after that all is well, and your going to feel like a million bucks.

BTW -- This technique is going to be patented but feel free to use until
I can think of name to trademark it with.

Ruck is a rude ugly man, but he is probably right.

Anyway, last week I had a nice time, until the cops accused me of having a gun.

Anyway, I didn't really read anything above, but just drink a lot of water. Like a liter or two be4 u go 2 bed, and then drink some in the middle of the night (trust me, u'll wake up in the middle of the night if u drink a lot of water be4 u go 2 bed :p)

An old recipe from my ancestors.

Grab a coconout, the older the best, put the water on a glass, put two ice cubes,ad a pinch of fresh mint, two drops of tabasco sauce, drink it.

    That's it.
