    This stupid guy said he was going to DDOS me if I didn't quit my site (which was directly competing with his). He told me I had ten minutes to take it offline or he will.

    What to do? I updated my DNS to his site's IP. No one can get to my site right now, but the funny thing is, he's DDOSing himself.
    :haha::haha::haha:

    offer to pay him 1k bucks, get his paypal then threaten to go to the feds reporting him as ddos kiddy
    will work better than that, he's to be very silly to attack himself but he'd have to be apelike to continue it

    I agree, I meant why take down your site and do that? If he is DDOS, he will be targeting a server, and server do take attacks very seriously even though I doubt the hosting server will notice unless he has like 100s of pc??

    Do you by any chance host on your sites on your home server?

    What does the DNS have to do with the DDOS. DDoS will accur on the server side with too many TCP/UDP connections until the server wont be able to handle them and die.
    Btw if he is stupid enough to really try and DDoS you and he uses your domain, not the ip, you can redirect it for a few moments to a .gov ip and let them handle the situation :D

    To explain:

    1. I have a home server that changes its IP. Therefore, I use no-ip.biz to have the DNS point to its IP automatically when it changes.

    2. No, DNS only takes one minute to update.

    3. Actually, it's really easy to get 100s of PCs. You can purchase zombies for about $0.10 USD each. So, he has a lot of them.

    LOL. He's still DDOSing his own site.

    are you sure he is even DDOS-ing anything, lot of noobs think that they can DDOS using some shitty scripts found on mirc. i would keep the site up and see what happens. If the ddos is for real, than i'll change my ip and update the no-ip, and site back on:D
