Databases sites for the foundation of a Seo empire

I've read the blue hat seo several times, and now I've the time and motivation to stop reading and star doing.

What I want to know is if databases sites are still foundation as described in that blog

Another question is: Rollover Sites are still useful to get big sites indexed?

I know that I should try those things instead of asking, but I don't want to spend time in techniques that everybody know are not working anymore

So, my question is very simple: should I spend times making databases sites and rollover sites, or is best try others techniques?

Database sites will work as long as it's indexed. Any site will work as long as it's indexed.

The main point is that you'll be using these sites for backlinks, so they don't even have to rank.

I undestand the point, no ranking, no even traffic. Just being indexed to use the backlinks

Also, I making a automated rollover site script, to help the big sites being indexed. I hope that 301 redirections still work, because as I said, I'm following guidelines written a year ago
