Okay so I know you could have your-keyword-phrase.com , or yourkeywordphrase.com.

But what about your-keywordphrase.com or yourkeyword-phrase.com

Would this still rank the same? Given the dash acts like a space I'm imagining that it will work. But I'd like to know before buying domains

Why don't you try adding buy or now at the beginning or end of the the keyword. I have had success both ways with the dashes or adding the buy, review and now on to the domain

I don't really know the answer to your question but I would also be interested in seeing what people have to say on this. I personally don't like adding extra words to the end/beginning unless I am actually planning on something long term in which case I would probably come up with a different name anyway.

All that really matters is that you keep your dashes to a minimum. I can't imagine "loseweight-now" or "lose-weightnow" being that much different.

I have just launched a website on a competitive phrase which I had to use "-" 3 in total...so I am hoping I can still rank on the phase!

Take a look at the top ranking domains for your keywords. How many have dashes in them? Likely not too many I'd guess?

Can't help with OP question, however I've found that;

3 Dashes is still good but 4 Dashes doesn't have much benefit.

If it't possible, then you can combine two keywords.
Example: "lose weight" and "weight loss" => loseweightloss.com

Given that from a semantic or phonetic point of view dashes arn't used unless absolutely necessary, similar age domain keyword.com with the same onsite and offsite seo will always rank above key-word.com. Get an aged domain with at least part of your keyword in the domain name instead of trying to get the precise keyword in your brand new domain and you will give yourself a much better chance of succeeding. That said, - in the domain name really doesn't make a whole lot of difference.

I gotta a lot of domains semantically the same with and without dashes and I don't see much difference.

I can confirm the first part, which you already claimed as working. I have a "www.My-Keyword.org" setup and I rank # 1 right now for a good key. So im stoked. Id like to know your outcome with your theory tho as I've seen some of those avail.
