    Hi guys,

I have been watching a domain name for some time now. I could see that it was due to expire, and finally has! Now it's in "Redeption Period", which according to wikipedia (and other sources) it is a 30 day period of holding time to allow the owner to re-register the domain name (allbeit at a little bit of an extra cost to them), but my understanding is that its pretty much their last chance to get their domain back.

So, I let the 30 days pass, and its still there, the WHOIS shows that it is still in "Redemption Period"? I dont a bit more googling and read that there is an additional 5 days after the Redemption Period in which the domain needs to be cleared and to go back into the public pool of domains.

So, I let the 5 days pass, and its still there in "Redemption Period"

...I waiting another 5 days... Still "Redemption Period"

At the time of writing this:

the domain was created on 23rd December 2008
the domain has expired on 11th November 2010
today is the 23rd January 2011

the domain is STILL in Status: redemptionPeriod

I work that out to be 10 weeks or (73 days to be precise). Surely the Redemption Period should be over by now?

    This is the whois results:
