Lol! From the way they have been playing this year this doesnt surprise me. Cowboys are the most expensive franchise in the NFL and they down right suck! Btw i am a Dallas native.

Actually, domains are trademarks for the Internet, so even if they own the offline brand, if they lose the online brand they can get in trouble and they may lose the case in court.

If someone got the domain and setup a fan site there would be nothing at all than anyone could do to them.

    Bullshit..

1st of all move it OFFSHORE then you can tell them to kiss your as. The worst they could do is try to DDOS your website..

    2nd

If I was to keep it onshore

I would set up the site as like a real cowboy site selling cowboy boots hats, farm stuff and other cowboy goods such as levi pants..lol They wouldnt to be able to do nothing because i'm not infringing..

On another note.. The franchise has millions. Why didnt they just pay up for a decade or so , then they wouldnt have to worry about renewing? Wouldnt only had cost $100 or so

All one would have to do is put ppc ads on the page... With the ammount of traffic the site gets, they could probally earn a living from that alone.

Just because the domain expires doesn't mean it becomes available for another party to acquire right away, it just means the current services are shut off. Network Solutions provides a 35-day grace period for the original owner to still renew the expired domain name.

Funnily enough I watched them get handed 40something 7 the other day, I searched to see what their article was and found this. Made me laugh!

1st: They would go to ICANN and get the domain redirected to their own NS

2nd: They would find you and drag you through court if you decide to fight it. If you don't you default and you pay ;)

3rd: What you're doing is you "sharked" their domain with the intentions of monetizing on their brandname.

You want to mess with the big boys, you better have your wallet thick and ready to go like a bad porno.

Honestly, they shouldnt be worried about the domain as much as they should think about maybe winning a game

Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong. This shit has been beaten like a dead horse and you're all wrong. The brand, the domain, the trademark is all owned by the Dallas Cowboys. Offshore, onshore, whatever, ICANN would never let anyone have it under any circumstances.

Hey... if someone has a dalas based cowboy ranch, that domain can make them the best known cowboy ranch in the world!!!

I was always amused that basecamp.com isn't owned by 37signals, and is actually an mfa site about mountain climbing, lol.
