Customs Clearance Issues while importing

Hi

Any body have any experience in dealing with customs while importing electronics from china?. My recent import got at DHL saying that it is held for clearance. Still I need to get more details from DHL. Some body provide your inputs on your experiences with customs?

I believe it depends on the type of product and quantity.. they can withhold anything they find suspicious. I think if u order from vendors, certain vendors know how to deal with customs better than others..

Best way to prevent seizure is to order smaller shipments. They take your stuff, unload it at the chicago airport and then hold it for 60 days and if you don't appeal then they put it in a huge incinerator (as seen on dirty jobs). They should send you a letter w/ instruction on how to appeal, they may or may not work, your best bet is to put it an appeal and try and get a refund from your supplier.
