what's a good answer to this?
"how confident are you that you are going to be able to rank all these keywords?"

well...I guess my original question wasn't worded correctly.

What do they mean when they ask "how confident are you?" like how do I measure my confidence? Do I tell them a number, like "I am 92% confident"?

    Dont over promise.

DONT FORGET TO ANALYZE THE COMPETITION OF THE KEYWORD.

Tell them that you only offer first page rankings and not #1 rankings.

You need a timeframe too, whenever someone asked me about that I always tell them that the timeframe as late as 6-12 months and early as 1-3 months.

As much as it's important not to over-promise, it's important that your customer feels confident in your confidence.

No client is going to want to invest their money is somebody whom answer, "Well.. if everything goes at plans, we should be able to rank for your keyword.. but, you know, Google experiences frequent algorithm changes so I can't guarantee it.." - If you give them doubts like that, they'll see it as a gamble, or possible perceive you as a beginner and may not feel confident in you.

If you reply with something like, "Following my keyword research and competitor analysis, I'm very confident that we'll be able to increase your online visibility and grow your online business. It's very difficult to give an accurate timeframe, however I believe it's realistic that we can expect to see improvements in your positions within 3-4 months. We will target some longer tail keywords at the start of the campaign, and with the data we can get from this new traffic, such as conversions and bounce rates, we'll be able to prioritise your other keywords and perhaps at a later stage I'll have a better idea on how long it will take to rank your primary keyword."

Manage their expectations like that. Sound confident that you know the industry and have researched their market. Just be careful with words, so that you're not promising they will be page 1 for X Keyword in 2 months.

How do you measure your own confidence...? Is that a serious question?

How would you measure how long it takes to get from point A to point B?
