    Hi,

I want to develop a custom wordpress plugin which somehow works like an autoblog plugin. Somehow, because the content should not come from mysql database/be persisted but is received via REST call everytime, each request.

Still, being a wp noob, it is very likely (uff!) that I have to develop it by myself. Could anybody give me a hint what to do?

    - Function 1: Plugin receives via REST a list of urls. Those urls should point to automatically created content. (Is it necessary to create custom .htaccess? Will this influence other rewriter-plugins?)

    - Function 2: If an url from function 1 is requested, then create a REST call to a webservice (which is offering content), receive the content and show it like a regular page or blog post. So the rendering should be done by wordpress. Only the content is received from elsewhere.

This means: for certain urls, I want to ensure that they are resolved and shown by wordpress. But not with the regular blog/page mechanism using the mysql database, but catching the content dynamically from a certain web service.

Is this possible? Do I need to use wp-hooks? How could I get this to work?

    Thanks!

Definitly doable, I did something quite like it for an other project (not with wordpress tho), now will someone do it for you for free? No.
So learn PHP, hire someone or offer a JV.

Come on, nope, absolutely no expectation of free stuff from my side! I would be happy to get technical advice, that's all. And then I will do it by myself, If my coding capabilities are sufficient for the technical challenge.

Can anybody sketch how this could be doable?

It will be hard to give you any technical advice if you don't know how to code, but you should check this:

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions...rating-virtual-pages-and-using-theme-template
    https://gist.github.com/brianoz/9105004

    and

    https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/162240/custom-pages-with-plugin/162476#162476
    https://gist.github.com/Giuseppe-Mazzapica/1efe17a8cb573e19c086

Once you have something like that implemented you just have to query the api from where you get the content and populate the wordpress requiered fields.
