Anyone on the forum made their own custom PC? If you have I would love to know, as I am thinking of making my own custom PC at around the $400-$600 mark during Black Friday.

Yeah, I've always built my own custom deskptop PCs; I've never owned a pre-built desktop. I'm pretty cheap when it comes to parts and I currently have the following:

    • 8 GB (2x4 GB) Kingston Hyper Blu RAM - I bought them both for $50
    • Athlon II X4 processor 2.6 Ghz. - I think this was $50 at the time
    • GeForce GTX 560 - $40
    • A 60GB SSD - $30
    • An Asustek motherboard (I forgot the name of it) - $60
    • An ATX mid-tower case. - $30
    • 750W (?) power supply (One of those where you can add or remove connections) - $60

I actually didn't pay much for any of those parts and my desktop can run games like StarCraft 2 at maximum graphics around 50 FPS without an issue. Including the parts I didn't mention such as the monitor, I probably paid about $500-600 total for everything at the time; I bought some of the components 6 years ago.

The whole rig can cost as little as 300$ without fancy discounts, and excluding monitor. Gaming depends on your monitor resolution. If it's 1080p the gfx card can be had pretty cheap. 1440p and you'll probly need a gtx 1070.

As long as you use quality brand name parts then a custom PC is good. I can't build one myself but I let a local computer shop did it for me. Cost me about $350 compared to branded ones which usually cost more than $600.

Go to pcpartpicker. Shows your best pricing for a part. Total cost and any comparability issues. For hardcore games you need for then 600$ in my opinion

600$ is heaven for medium budget pc, if you are a PvP player an i5 + GTX 750 Ti will run you PvP games on 60 fps constant, and you'll survive with the new steam games "battlefield 1 - Doom" with medium graphics.

Thats a great build which is pretty good on the budget. the PSU add or remove connections is proabably a fully modular PSU.

I'm actually going for a cheap build which should run games at a 60+ FPS. May bottleneck but I'll upgrade the CPU in the future.

Here it is on PCPARTPICKER: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/dylanlobo/saved/hMfYcf

I always build my own PCs. Why pay someone else to build one with most of what I want inside when I can build it cheaper with exactly what I want? :)

I have. Went with the SilverStone FT02 case black 'n' red, love it to pieces. If you want a highly premium full metal case it's great. Probably not best on a 600 budget though

Not at all, but they were pretty good for it's time. The video card was Galaxy GeForce (200 series, can't remember exactly which one). When someone entered my room, the first things he said was "WTF is this beast" :D with all the neon lights and sh*t. After some time I bought a laptop, cuz I went to study abroad and now my sister plays GTA 5 on this pc :D
