alright this is just a feeler and im not selling the account yet, this post is out of curiosity.

I've made an account pretending to be a certain president-to-be, I completely automated the account and it reposts the post + caption from the real account.

Anyway its currentlly grown to 300 followers (warming up the account very slowly over the last month or so) gets good engagement including comments. and it has a good name (no _ or . or anything weird)

I plan to grow it out to 10k or so and then sell it off and im just wondering if an account like this would be more valuable than normal.
Then again monetising would be quite limited to selling merch of that person, or perhaps to someone who wants to troll people or spread their own message.

a part of me wants to just keep growing the account for a few years and see how it goes, perhaps one day start trolling with it.

-i know 300 is pretty much the same a zero, and all the account has for now is a good name.

Not worth much unless you can monetise it yourself, then it would have clear value.

Right now it's definitely not worth much. Like you said, try to grow it to 10k.

lol definitely not a kid, and the followers as i have stated are irrelevant. but I was curious to see if there would be any interest in a political account. I have a network of 65K+ followers (again compared to others on this forum its basically nothing) and ive been doing IG for a while now.

the only thing this account has (as i have said before) is a good name.

You are probably new here and don't know him. He was here from the time when Medusa was pretty. ;)

300 followers a day would be worth something when it grows to around 20k. But if youre asking the 300 followers you got, its worthless

again the 300 followers it has now is irrelevant and as the account sits now its pretty much worthless.

let me word it is this way:

would a account that's impersonating a president to be with (lets say) 10K be worth more than the average account with the same followers?

and i have my answer, which is no.

It's going to be worthless in the end, even if you do grow it larger. If it grows large enough to be noticeable then you are going to get banned for impersonating a public figure. If you try changing the content later when its larger, all the people interested in Donald Trump are likely going to have zero interest in whatever you change it to, unless you change it to a white supremacist (good luck monetizing that), and your engagement will fall to zero, and everyone will unfollow it. You have picked an insanely specialized niche by impersonating Donald Trump, and you can be sure that if it gets large enough to be of any value w/that niche, you're going to be banned and/or sent to Guantanamo =)

its made from an account i had left over anyway so i dont really care what ends up happening to it, this is just for fun. the username was available so i took it + 2 mins of setting the account up and done.
whats odd though is some of the comments left under the photos, people basically worshipping trump. oh and waaaay less hate and negativity on there than that i suspected.

and i dont plan on monetizing it, maybe sell it one day or troll for a bit until it gets banned, frankly i bet sooner or later it will be banned before it reaches any real amount of followers. I really made this thread out of curiosity lol.

    Lol

As to value I couldn't offer you any thing that has substance but you could grow it as a parody account I would think.

I own a political opinion news site that I write for almost every day and I when I write I try to write in a way that will rile people up a little bit. I do not choose to be a left winger or right winger on the site as much as I try to create a little controversy and then share those articles on social media.

That gets the site nice traffic as people are so dang emotional about politics and I do what I can to stir those emotions.

You could do the same and bank while the sun shines but at some point, if it is a #45 named account, you will probably lose it. If not by Twitter taking it by the owner of that name as he is quite protective of his name.

The majority here have already answered your question. It's not worth anything now, and will not be worth anything in the future if it has the name Trump anywhere on the handle.

What if it was just anything else? Any niche for that matter? Would the followers count at 300, 10K or 50K? Not if it's not monetized (with proof).

Social media accounts are intangible assets. You do not own, and only control them while the social media company lets you. They can take it away at any moment, or like Instagram, control the likes/engagement/followers that that account would usually acquire.

With that said, a 100K account in any niche is not worth much if it's not monetized. And by much, I mean less than 100 bucks if the buyer is really, really, really, supercalifragilistically excited about that particular account.

Guys, and girls, there are others selling 2-3 year old accounts for less than $10 bucks, with OG emails and phone verification already done, that means that if you grow that $10 buck account into a huge account, it won't get taken away by the seller at a later time. What makes you and the account that you're selling any special? If it's not making money, then it's just a regular homely looking account. And we all know what happens to those, they get together with an ugly looking account or stay single until death.

controversy definitely gets people talking, and nothing gets people talking more than anything trump related. perhaps an option if this account ever did get anywhere

I believe i even answered this thread myself, and i completely agree with you, unless an account has proof of revenue it's not worth anything (or close to nothing), and its also true that we dont really own the accounts as much as we have permission to create and use the accounts.

My main problem is i should stop making rather pointless threads like this when im tired lol.
