I know that when it comes to reviews that it's always heavily saturated and there are thousands of them out there, everyone tries to get a review out as soon as possible hoping they will get some views, although I've seen this a few times where someone would create a website with something like wordpress and make the review REALLY early. I'm talking months before release. I saw a Saints Row IV Review that was posted 4 months before the official release that was ranked on the very top of Google when you typed in "Saints Row 4 Review", they purchased a domain "saintsrow4review" and had the "review" sitting on the page. It was a review, but it was the review of an unreleased product. This page did not have any affiliate links on it, or ads. So, I'm curious. Is it possible to make money this way, and is it viable? I'm asking because I know of a few really popular games that I can get really nice keyword domains for that currently have NOTHING in terms of competition when you search through google, or look through keywords. Do you think this will be worth it? I'm asking because I owe a member on this forum some money, which I'm about to pay back to him and then I'm going to persue this niche if you guys think it would work. I'm obviously not releasing the games names.

I also already actually created one of the review pages using blogger, and created my own 500 page article, with an uploaded youtube video (Game trailer), and the video/blog link to eachother.

Let me know what you guys think about being able to rank using this method, considering the stupidly high competition rate for reviews.

Depends on how you want to make money for the game reviews. You can use anything from PPD/Amazon Seller of the game/Adsense/YouTube Adsense. If you think it will be profitable and return at least the costs of web hosting and the domain purchase price then go ahead. Since you asked a question and are unsure of how the others monetized their blog, let me put it in simple terms. You will run across people who simply just love the game and want to have a cool fansite about the game. These people don't care about money and rather just want the web property for people to look at and use. That sounds like what that site did, just simply put a review for the game up just because they loved it.

if i would have to thank BHW for one thing and one thing only is for making me realize that there is money to be made EVERYWHERE ... you just need the guts to start raking (work) it

    to be on point:

yes there are money to be made with game reviews but i would suggest you get yourself a decent site first, create a YT channel, a facebook page and keep adding reviews, walkthroughs, spoilers, easter eggs, etc ... if you have the will and the patience to rank it organically and pure WH you will be making tons of cash in ~ 4-5 years :D

in fact it was only one game

So yes there can be a lot of money
but it depends on the games
