If I am trying to optimize my website for a certain keyword and the search results have 1-3 adwords results at the very top (not the right), what is the percentage of clicks the ads get vs the organic results? I know the normal ratio is about 40% for the top organic result and 12% for the 2nd (% being how many people who searched clicking through to the website. I've looked around and have only found information about ads in the sidebar, not the top. Also, does google only put ads on the top if its a combination of non-optimized organic results and great quality ads for the respective keyword. Or can any ad that is strong enough be on the top, even if there are organic websites optimized for those keywords? I have a couple websites I would like to pursue but if the top spot in google is effectively not attainable because of ads I will probably look elsewhere. I'm looking for something similar to the breakdown of ctr of normal search results, but including ads on the top. ex 1. 42% 2. 12% 3. 8% seems pretty important for keyword research, especially for those that have 3 sponsored results at the top.
