Credit card merchant account,, how to keep my name private when billing?

I would like to set up a business and take payments over the phone. How can I set this up and keep my personal name private? (I don't want angry customers knocking on my door) Also how can I keep my business name private? If they are able to see my business name then I assume they will be able to find my real name,, is there any solution to keep my business name and personal name private when billing people? Also who is a good credit card processor to do this with? Do most CC companies require a business license to process with them? I'm not trying to scam people but as you know people feel entitled to a refund even when they are out of the grace period and some do get a bit hostile :/ thanks for the answers.

I read somewhere CCBill might be an option but I'm not sure how that works, I will call them on Monday. In the meantime if anyone cares to give me some info about ccbill that would be great.

PS. I tried searching for the answer but came up with too many unrelated posts, I've also been on this site for a long time under a different name but my password got changed and I forgot what email it was tied to (if anyone cares), thanks again guys,, and ladies

Also I will update this thread with answers I find, as I am just starting my research on this. :ranger:

If you get set up with a real merchant account, they will have your personal name and banking details. There's no way around this outside of setting up an anonymous business bank account (good luck) and getting your business registered somewhere that doesn't require a personal name attached to it (a bit easier but not cheap).

Then... don't scam them? You shouldn't ever have angry customers - if you did, then you obviously mistreated them in some way. If you run an honest business the only chargebacks and refund requests you get will either be legitimate or so not worth your time that you will just refund them to get rid of them.

This is pretty silly... your business name will be on your website, your invoices, your processing, etc. Again if you're trying to scam people then obviously you would want to anonymize everything; however I would spend time researching the laws of wherever you're from to find out what the jail time is for this petty crap.

Stop trying to hide, start running a legitimate operation. Much easier and solves all of these problems.

No idea what you're selling but in my businesses, if any client asks for a refund for any legitimate reason, we provide it to them. If they ask for an illegitimate reason we generally provide it and refuse any further business. If the client tries to scam us we generally remind them that we can send out a few dozen guest blog posts and press releases describing who they are, what they did, their home contact information, etc. which is accompanied by a letter from our lawyer. This usually fixes everything.

At any rate - stay away from this. You should be proud of your business and your clientele, not trying to hide from them and fearing chargebacks or refund requests.

I think you are being too paranoid. If you run into a crazy customer who finds your address and starts stalking you, you can call the police. but that shouldn't happen unless you are in some shady business.

Or, a free person simply wants or expects financial privacy, is not trying to scam anybody, and should not be stigmatized as such. Privacy is not "petty crap." And a careful set-up of pseudonym identities can probably accomplish what the OP desires.
