    Hey guys,

So I have a micro niche site that has actually picked up and started popping up for tons of related keywords. The site has 7 pages of content, each targeting a specific keyword. Those pages are ranking well (1st page).

But now, a ton of related keywords have started popping up (my root domain is ranking for most of these keywords). Most ranking between page 5 and page 2. Some of these keywords get a lot of searches. Now, my question is this..

So let's say I've popped up "cool blue widgets", but I don't have a page optimized for it. Is there any point of writing an article and optimizing it for "cool blue widgets", considering my main page is already ranking for it?

Would I be better off just build links with the anchor text "cool blue widgets" to my main page?

I think just build links to your main page with the anchor text is enough, but if you build a new page for the keyword, I think you will get a better ctr if you use the keyword as the title.

If your home page is ranking for keywords that you are not "necessarily" targeting, why not build a page that is optimized for that keyword? Your homepage may not be the most converting place for that keyword.

I would try and build some links and see if you could rank it pretty easy, then why not build an optimized page as well. Double listing rule!

I always like looking at both sides of things ;)

Great point Dan. I should point out though that the keywords are all very related, and I honestly don't think it would affect the CTR.

This is what worked for me:

I also noticed a lot of keywords popup that I did not target. I looked up the highest searched keyword (9000 broad) and put it into my Site Anchor, Title, H1 and Description.

After that when I wrote articles for my site I put the keyword in my tag and descriptions +URL of the pictures I posted. I did this for about 15 articles while mainly targetting my main KW's.

After about a month when my main keywords ranked I bought social bookmarking for "cool blue widgets" and added a page to my site called:

mysite.com/cool-blue-widgets and wrote 1 article only targetting "cool blue widgets", the bookmarks where all targetted on that page. Then I did a couple of related blog comments on high PR sites.

This whole progress took me 2-3 months because I was slacking. mysite.com/cool-blue-widgets now is ranking #1 while my site itself is ranking on #11. Currently using NHSEO to get the site itself to page one, hopefully #2

Good pointers here. I'd also suggest building backlinks with the keyword anchor to both the optimized inner page as well as the main page.
