Creating a twitter bot - Need opinions

I've been spending the past few days to get used to the twitter api and i finally got a hang of it but when did i ran my first few tests i got only about 30 - 40 follow backs for about 800 follows also i did apply these filters.

Follow/Follower ratio less than 1.2
Follower/follow ratio more than 0.8
Followers less than 1000
and last tweeted at-least 30 days ago

Am i doing something wrong or is 30 - 40 follow back for 800 following normal? Its been almost 24 hours now.
Also my bots scrapes followers of specified users and the followers of their followers.

It can be normal. It depends of the users you scrape and follow are bots/active or not. It also depends of the niche, some niches have better follow back ratio. It also depends of your tweets.

I tend to get anywhere from 10-20% follow back. A lot of the time it just depends on the niche. Also I feel that one sample is hardly enough to draw any significance, so run it a few more times & see what your follow-back percentage is then.

It may also have to do with your account. What is your ratio of followers to following? I try to keep mine greater than 1. (Ex:1,000 following, 1,200 followers, etc..) Before I got into the twitter game, when I saw an account with more following than followers, I felt it was kinda spammy.

Another issue I can see is with your follow rules. The way I see it, people who are following more than they have followers are easy targets - more likely to follow you back. Also with your <1,000 followers rule, at face value it makes sense: larger accounts are less likely to follow back -- but what if they do?! I like to think the chance that an outlier may follow me back is worth the extra that I am just going to unfollow later. Just think: they retweet one of your tweets & 1,000+ others see it, maybe others follow from that.

Thats completely depends on the niche what you are using.
always choose something different where you can have good ratio of followers.

10 - 20% sounds great, i have mass planner too and i got around 20% follow back on it but the problem with it is that it takes too much memory i think i will just try to replicate my mass planner settings for now and also you're right about following 1,000+ accounts. and my ratio for followers to following is more than 0.8.
i saw your journey i've been doing something similar. I plan on having this bot handle at least 30 accounts asap. All these bugs are a real pain though.
The biggest mistake i think i did was scraping followers of list of followers that got scraped once.
