    Hi,

I want to know if it is possible to create a subdomain and a database and then install wordpress or any other CMS by only using putty on a linux VPS.
I'm a real noob about putty so I'm waiting for you guys to tell me if it is possible and how of course.
I allready searched for some tutorials and found nothing.

    Awaiting for your reply,

    Thanks

Never try this primitive way, but you should consider lynx, it can browse but with limited capabilities.

    Yeah it's very much possible.

    1. Login to VPS via Putty
    2. Create new database => database user => database password
    3. Create directory & an entry for subdomain in httpd.conf
    4. Download Wordpress & Copy it to your home directory
    5. Edit WP-Config file and update the database information

You can get the tutorials in the internet for above individual steps.

it's pretty easy :) and MUCH more faster than cpanel or any other ways to work with the server :) ... only hard part it's setup of the domains / ips ... but that's until you figure exactly what you are doing ... ( for example a decent linux vps will copy/move 1mb files ( in seconds ) ... creation of database and the username required for most of cms involve several commands but they aren't so complicated .
