CPC and CPM. Which one do you choose ?

Hi,
I think cpm show your ads fast, get some clicks and burn a lot of money
but cpc, you only pay for a click. you can ncontrol your pocket money
so i think cpc is better than cpm.

but i also want to know which one do you choose, and why do you use it ?

What is the average clickthrough rate in the cpm ad industry for 1 CPM (1000 impressions) ?

It all depends on what your CTR is for your ads, what you would pay for CPC, and what you're paying CPM.

Let's say you're getting a 2% CTR on Banner Ad #1 and your CPM on the display network is $6.

Every 1000 visits is getting you 20 clicks for $6.

If CPC is more than 30 cents ($6 / 20 clicks), then you're winning.

• For example: CPC = $0.50 cents @ 20 clicks = $10 paid.

On the flip side, if your CTR is 1%, then:

• 1000 visits would gnar 10 clicks
• $6 CPM for 10 clicks = $0.60 cents a click
• If you're getting 50 cent clicks, switch to CPC or do something to increase your CTR when you're paying CPM.

cpc for me.

i'd like to choose CPC, the traffic only depend on how much you pay per click, if you are the newbie, CPC would be the best choice. after you have know how the traffic system works, cpm would be better, you know how to improve the ctr that means you will get more traffic with less money

If you are in the campaign testing stage, CPC would be a great choice to control cost.
If you have a whitelisted publisher sites/ OS/ Browser version then CPM could be 'potentially' a good choice.

Traffic delivery behaves differently between CPM and CPC campaigns. For CPC campaigns, if your CTR is low, impression delivery will be reduced greatly. This CTR is compared against other advertisers on an average basis.

CPM will always be more expensive but would work well in terms of ROI as more traffic impression will be delivered. Sometimes if you are lucky, you get better ROI than what you are paying for CPC.

I uses CPC for campaign testing whereas CPM if I want scale up a profitable setup that I have identified.

It's not one against the other. Use both according to your needs.
Also, if your CPC bids are high enough, you'll still get traffic and compete with CPMs.

CPC for testing and CPM when you find the right banner. The CTR may fall over time, so you should keep an eye on it.

Is this for you or a client?
Prove & earn trust with CPC, but have some level of tracking and measurement in place to show CPA.
At least then you can pitch up to CPM - but that's going to take time as part of a mix and shitty stock creative just won't cut it.
