I'm using myspace to get traffic. I am driving traffic from my cloaked/forwarded url directly to my CPA landing page. Will the cpa be able to see that my traffic is coming from myspace doing this?

When in doubt test by sending traffic to your own server and checking your logs.

If you're linking directly to the URL you were given by the network, then yes they will see the referrer as being MySpace. If advertising on MySpace is against the networks TOS (and you can bet it is, not to mention against MySpace TOS), you'll get a call and have some explaining to do, at best. At worst you might have your account canceled as well as lose all of your commissions.

If by "cloaked/forwarded url" you mean you're using something such as TinyURL, NotLong or OffTo and similar to shorten / obfuscate your links visually, the real referrer will be evident to the network.

If, on the other hand, you are using a custom landing page first that then does the redirect, the network will not see the MySpace referral ... UNTIL they pay a visit to your referring URL and observe the redirect firsthand. Then you'll get that call and have some explaining to do, at best. At worst ... see above.

Tommy gave you a great suggestion, so give it a test to see for yourself.

I was hoping that this method could be a possiblity:

Best,

I think they will most likely see it.

Usually when I hear people talking about cloaking it doesn't mean blanking the referrer.

I could be wrong.

Tommy is right, it is best to run a check, and see what is being leaked (there are many posts concerning double meta refresh that discuss in depth how to test what the referrer is).

Speaking of double meta refresh, if you really want to prevent the CPA network from knowing where your traffic is coming from, bounce it through a double meta refresh first. A good DMR will blank the referrer, which will work for more than 95% of your traffic, and for those people with jacked browsers (who would leak the referrer anyway, and blow the jig), it won't let them through, thus protecting you even more. Again, there are many great posts detailing double meta refresh, including checking for the referrer. Do a little research, set up a test platform, and play with it for an afternoon, and pretty soon you'll feel like you just learned magic. ;)

Myspace >> Cloaked url (Tinyurl) >> Your Website (Landing Page) >> Company Landing Page

You can spit out myspace :D

thanks guys that really helped. I was looking for away to get around creating a landing or a website and DMR (I have no programming knowledge).

I'm thinking about putting mydomain[DOT]com in the messages so they are forced to put my domain name in there browser instead of clicking from myspace. (Until I learn how to do DMR) What do u think guys?

just pause your campain. Learn DMR on the forum and apply.

yea I know VERY little about programming but know how to set up a DMR, it may take a sec but its pretty easy and worth it

I don't understand all the questions about double meta refresh, it's so simple, and as someone said before there are tons of quality posts on here about it =)

I think until you learn DMR your method of forcing them to type your landing page link will work. Maybe I missed something in your post but that should work while you search BHW to learn DMR

Cheers
