OK.... I have a new site that I have just built that is 2 weeks old. I have spent tons of time doing SEO. I have 6 pages on my site that I use CPA on. I have had 0 hits and 0 leads until yesterday. When I got home last night I had 140 hits and 25 leads. The thing was that it was only for a 1 hour period. After that hour, there was 0 hits and 0 leads since then.

What do you think happened? I am completely baffled by this!

You could be running a CPA campaign that updates on a weekly basis rather than "real" time. There are not many of them, but it sounds like you got one. If you are not sure about this, just call your AM and he/she will tell you why. Cheers

I'm using the biggest CPA company. They update every 15 minutes or so.

I am not talking about the company, but rather the OFFER itself. Some offers (very few) are not real time, the advertiser updates the stats on on a weekly or bi-weekly delay. Like I said, if you are unsure about this offer, talk to your AM, he/she is the only one who can tell you for sure.

Did you check your web analytics (Google, AWStat, etc) to see the source of the traffic to your site? Could you be running a PPC/CPV campaign that you forgot to turn off (it happens, believe me)? In any of your backlinking for SEO, if you did something on social site, DIGG for example, maybe that got moved to the front page. The only time I see big intraday traffic spikes are when social site promotions happen, otherwise organic traffic as you know is steady.

I did not do an analytics test. However, I did submit to over 50 social bookmarking sites (not Digg because they rejected my link) Maybe one of the other SB sites put me on the top.

My keywords are extremely competitive so I know it didn't come from organic traffic, because this would be a steady stream. My site is only 2 weeks old.

You need to get analytics or statcounter or something.

Otherwise every time someone comes to your site, you're not going to know where they came from and come here and make threads going "OMG I got traffic and don't know from where?!"

I just put the tracking code on all my sites. However, I thought that's what these type of forums where for. To get information on how to do these types of things?

Yeah that's what the forum is for, but did you read anything, or do a search???? Putting some type of tracking on your site is the most BASIC of things to do when setting up a site. BTW, did you call your AM and ask about it?

Something on your site may have been mentioned in somebody's newsletter.

Its a strange blip, but its really only one strike against you, worst case senario. Most CPA networks won't ban you for that, though I have heard of people being banned for stranger things.

I would certainly ask your AM for information regarding your traffic - hopefully you'll be able to duplicate such success...

My guess is that the offer is either delayed - tracking was down for that offer - something along those lines...
