I haven't really looked into this method but it would be a pretty cool idea if you were selling iPhone or iPod or Wii's to list the item then have somewhere on the auction "Get a change at a FREE WII" which would link to an email submit. It would be pretty targeted traffic. I think it would work best as an ADD-ON, meaning your primary business is selling iPod's but you can make some extra cash with the email submit.

Hm, not a bad idea i've never tried. I have collected thousands of opt ins from inserting autoresponder code into auctions though so that definitely works.

not a bad idea, would love to hear a response from anyone who has tried this! I can see how some people such as the cpa company or ebay may not like this, but talk about focused leads! This could work well if there was a good way to do it...maybe put the link in the auction about "click here for a free ipod" or whatever and have that linking to a blog article giving a "review" of how you got your "free ipod" at which point you pop the link to the cpa...haha...

...and at the same time be stuffing the auction of course!

It's usually not against either e*bays or any CPA networks tos, you have to read them all on a case by case basis.

E*Bay will make you post them in their classifieds sections though, and not in a live auction.

Now just think of the possibilities: 1. cookie stuff your cpa offers 2. collect emails for list building 3. have read leads fill out your offers...

you wont need to do them in the classifieds section. You could put up a fake auction to get the cookie stuffs (and more hits than a classified) and in the auction you say how you got the xbox you are selling for free through an online offer you found. You could then include a link to a blog giving a "review" of the offer and how good it is (this way it increases confidence of the person to do the offer as well as your not directly linking an offer to an ebay auction and it can be reused for multiple auctions as well). The end :)

Also, if you do the blog thing like that you will keep the CPA happy because they wont know the traffic flow is very targeted an coming from ebay...all they see is it coming from your blog...so you wouldnt even need to cloak links.

I should add that I have not tried this myself, but have been thinking about it this afternoon while at my J-O-B and thinking through ways to do it...so I cant say for certain it will work...but it seems pretty solid and much cheaper than ppc. Figure you can get 500-1000 views of your auction per listing easily...of VERY targeted traffic for really cheap (or free if you use a fake auction) compared to if you did 500 views at .05 cents per click in ppc thats 50 bucks and may not be people targets ready to buy something...lol

i did this a few times. It really doesn't work well. If you don't put your auction together correctly it gets deleted pretty quick. I also have created classified ads and featured listings and barely made back the cost of the auction.

There are ways to make some money on ebay with cpa leads, but you need to approach it a little different. think list building and targeted email lists.

If anyone here gives this a go, would like to hear about your trials.

Chilly, can you talk a little deeper on your methods of doing this?

Can we get the discussion going again... a featured Ad WILL get you a lot of hits. it's just what to do with them... and how not to get banned
