There's a page that has zero content and is nothing but stylized adwords link units that bumped me out of the 2nd spot for a search term that gets 40,000 exact searches a month. This site came out of nowhere about 2wks ago, has only that one page indexed in google, and looks to have 0 backlinks.

I'm not mad about it, I just want to know how they're doing that. One page with nothing but ads and no backlinks sounds a hell of a lot easier than all I had to do to get the spot right below it. I'm thinking maybe they're using 301 redirects and will be gone if/when they get a manual review.

Now that I started writing this, I went back and checked and it's domain age is listed as starting in 2006 so it seems like they must have bought an expiring domain and 301'd it to this all ad page.

Next time you find one of those Landing pages check it's age.

    hope that helps

here's a link to the one I was talking about. Not a CPA page, but still a bit of a mystery how it's ranking with 100% ads and NO content.

    Code:
    http://chiuaua.com/

it seems to be 301 redirect if 0 content ... but then as u said its showing 0 backlinks the redirected domain should have lot of backlinks rite wont that backlinks start appearing for the new domain ? i mean the ranking one ?

I really don't know. I wish I did. Honestly I had never even heard of a 301 redirect until about a week ago.

I was mistaken earlier when I said the age was 2006, it's actually 2001! It seems pretty clear that whoever made that page listed every possible related keyword on the page so maybe the combination of a 10 year old domain age with super optimized onpage can get those kinds of rankings, but it seems really suspicious and I think we must be missing something here.

if u r talking abt the site above its very clear .... if u check with ahref u can see its 301 redirect.... so 301 redirect with a pretty aged domain name with no backlinks to the site u want to rank and no content but lot of backlinks to the site which u redirected will get u to the top easily dont know how long the rankings will be there but it defenitely works .... look at the site :D

I'm also wondering how they keep their adsense accounts considering they probably have close to a 100% CTR. I'm thinking they must send a bunch of junk traffic or scrapebox pings from proxies or something to keep the CTR down to a believable percentage.

It's been there at least 2wks. I can tell you from holding that same position for a certain keyword and getting a 5% CTR with adsense I was making +$2/day and they must be getting a great CTR so even if it gets delisted today it made great money for the little time and effort it took to make and rank.

Guess I know what I'm testing next.

but when u look at it do u think those are usual adsense ads which we see on other sites with adsense on it ? this looks different rite ? i mean this looks more like when we get redirected to parked pages with google ads on it looks kinda like that ..... and it shows real search results in between ads also ... i dont know but thats not gonna stay there for long thats for sure ...seems like u r gonna get back ur place :D

LOL I read that thread a while ago and I was just searching for it! I wasn't thinking bobby was meaning to use a page like that, I was thinking he was talking about legit pages, but I guess if you want to start over every so many weeks this could be a good moneymaker too.

I agree they look different. Now I'm thinking maybe they have 20 adsense accounts and each one of those links goes to a different one? That would make it a lot easier to keep the CTR down for any one individual account. I'd like to look into it more but it really pains me to think about clicking on a link for someone that took my spot lol.
