It's common knowledge that with banner advertising you have...

    IMPRESSIONS

Then some people click it and some don't... this is known as the CTR. I don't use banners, simply the text links so i don't have to deal with a CTR between Impressions and Click thru's exactly.

My question is on my stats page now (for example) it has:

    Clicks - Leads
    140 - 20

For every 140 people 20 sign up and generate leads, which is a 7:1 ratio, will this raise flags or is it just applicable when using banner advertising?

    Find the %.

    140 clicks and 20 leads
    1/7 = 14 % conversion rate.

I would send some traffic to the landing page. Remember that when your sending junk traffic, it usually has no/random referrers depending on the source. If your AM notices that all conversions are coming from users with a specific referrer, and anything else always bounces off, they will know that you are up to something.

Thus you either need to fake the refferer of your fake trafic to match the referrer of your BH traffic, or do the opposite. Or DMR everything all together.

Fabricating statistics isn't an easy thing to do, especially when you have to worry about CTR, Conversion %, and Referrers all at the same time.

I am faking the referer from a whitehat site, so all traffic is seen to come from my landing page which is 100% legit and posh looking.

14% high then? that was just an example, 10% about right? It must depend on the offer as well i presume. Thanks for the reply.

I always try to get it around 6-7%, never had any trouble.

For targetted traffic it should be anywhere between 5-1X% (X = number :))
For "untargetted" traffic, e.g. spam (& other ways) it should between 0.XX%-5% (MAX!)

    That's just my experience

No need for traffic yet. Just stay under 20 percent
