Hey. I have a few SEO questions as i started with seo 2-3 days ago. Hope its okay to post it here.

When using the same image on different pages, would it be best practice to upload the image twice, with different alt text? ( using wordpress and just inserting alt text in media tab)

I have a contact page, purely for seo puroses, as i would imagine that it would help me in my ranking, is it necessary to set up a meta description, write content and stuff on that page? I have no intentions on ranking it on google, i just dont want it to hurt my page either.

I currently have no H1 tags on my home page, if i set it i get an error in Yoast saying: Single title: H1s should only be used as your main title. Find all H1s in your text that aren't your main title and change them to a lower heading level!
If I remove my H1 tag, yoast gives me no error, but Neil patel's seo audit tells me i need to add H1 tag. Which one do i trust?

Thanks!

First, congratulations on your SEO journey. Here are “straight to the point” rules specific to your questions...

yes, you can use the same image on multiple pages. No, you should not use the same image uploaded with different alt text. A rule to remember is google does not rank websites. It ranks pages.

If you want to use the same image for different pages this is how you should set it up step by step.

1. On your computer create a folder (for organization purposes) and save the image file as the exact keyword you are ranking for page X.

For example : If the main keyword you are ranking for is “Dentist Austin Texas” then name your photo file “Dentist_Austin_Texas.jpg”

2. >> upload the file to Wordpress.
2.1 > add the photo to the page created to rank for “dentist Austin Texas”
2.3 add the alt text “dentist Austin Texas”
2.4 add the meta title “dentist Austin Texas ~ name of business
2.5 add meta description “If your looking for a dentist in Austin Texas, Look no further... name of business is a dentist in Austin Texas .... “
Next, if you want to use the same image but for a different page, do the following steps

1. create a copy of the image on your computer. It should now be named by default “dentist_Austin_Texas (1).jpg”

2. rename the file on your computer to the next keyword you want to rank for. Let’s say the most relevant 2nd keyword you want to rank for is “teeth whitening dentist Austin Texas” then you would rename the photo “teeth whitening dentist Austin Texas”

repeat all of step 2.

To your question, do you need to stuff content on your contact us page? No. That would not help.

Remember, google May know that your contact page belongs to your domain but google doesn’t
Care. It ranks pages. Don’t compete ranking for keywords with other pages.
What does help? SCHEMA. The schema is your golden ticket if set up right. Use google guidelines. Be meticulous. Do it EXACTLY as they format it in / provide examples. And effort to rank will be effortless.

Last, YOAST is a good tool to input information but not to give advice. As crazy as it may sound,I don’t listen to it. If your main keyword you want to rank for is “dentist Austin Texas”

then your homepage title should be “Dentist Austin Texas | Name of Business”

H1 tag — just use the code editor and enter

<h1>Dentist Austin Texas</h1>

Feel free to DM me if you want specific guidance. SEO is simpler than you think (especially local) and when done right, it’s a set it and forget it and it keeps ranking and growing authority over time.
Good luck!

Thank you so much for detailed information! I learned a lot from your answer. Especially this: A rule to remember is google does not rank websites. It ranks pages.

Jojowonder has already answered your questions with quite a lot of details.
I'd just add that Neil Patel is not really the best source of information, OP. Personally, I would very often do the opposite of whatever he says. As for his software, not the best either.

+Compress those images to optimize site speed.

Props to you for asking legit questions as usually on here we get "Just got a client but I don't know anything about SEO. Please, tell me what to do. Full SEO plan if possible."

1. I don't practice same images multiple pages but if would it would be the same one with the same alt text. It's the same image, why would it suddenly change the name and alt text of what the image is.
2. No one really ranks contact pages, they are for EAT. Just do the basics for title and meta's.
3. Do you plan to rank the homepage? If so then you should have an H1 that contains a focus keyword of some sort. In general homepages are ranking for brand terms (depends on niche tho).

P.S. Don't use underscores for file names, use hyphens.

1. Got it, makes sense.
2. Yeah i have no intentions of ranking that page.
3. Nope, the h1 tag was meant for a different site, maybe i should have clarified that.
