First of, what is a PR Domain? Yes i've searched the forum already but as expected, no one talks about what the PR stands for.

Second, if I come up with a great idea for a domain name, type it in and realize that no one has taken it yet, what are the steps I go through to get this domain quickly?

PR = PageRank. It's how Google determines the authority of a site. There are a number of factors contributing the the PR of a site, such as the number of sites linking to it and the PR of those sites.

To snatch a domain name up simply purchase it, it's then yours..

Thanks! I have another question.. i found a domain i want to register ASAP, but i won't be working on the website until maybe a month time. I am using namecheap to register it, do i need to buy their web hosting service now or can I do it later? I dont want to start paying for it monthly when i might not even work on the website until next month

You don't need to, once you are ready for hosting and have found a hosting package that meets your requirements you simply purchase it and update your name servers. However if you use namecheap hosting I doubt the later will need to be done/they can do it for you.

You dont have to buy their hosting right now. Moreover, you dont have to buy a plan at the same supplier you registered the domain at. Each domain provider, allows you to forward your domain to any hosting plan and edit the DNS Zone

Usually domain sellers like NameCheap and GoDaddy will also try to sell you their hosting, but you don't have to go with there's. Honestly I'd recommend just going for somebody who specialises in Hosting, my favourite is HostGator.

A lot of people say you shouldn't host with the same company you register the domain.

There are a lot of hosting companies but if you're a noob starting out, HostGator is probably going to be a good choice for you. Stay away from the ones that are super cheap because most of them are scammy. HostGator is easy to use and has very good customer service if you ever have any problems.

So register with namecheap or GoDaddy, and host with HostGator. I've heard bad things about GoDaddy's hosting so stay away from that.
