I was reading Newyork Times on my Iphone, when I saw this fascinating news. I thought I'd share it with all, in case if you have not noticed it.

    Code:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/27/technology/google-antitrust-inquiry-advances.html?_r=1&hp
I am actually very curious about the progress of this case, and what if they finally find out that Big G deliberately manipulate the rankings :)

    Comment.

Well if Google is going to be penalized by the US laws that will be great news in general, that will make that other search engines can enter in competition.

There is not going to be a big monopoly as it is right now.

So i hope that the law can win in this one, for the users and the people like us that live from IM.

We all know that google does alter the rankings .. placing some of their top adsense publishers on top for added revenue. It ALL boils down to just one thing and that is MONEY. Everyone here wants to have a piece of the action, so google is no different either.

It will be difficult to prove that the rankings have been altered because public cannot access the algorithm used for ranking the sites or else we could just compare the page 1 results and proved that it is all manipulated by google. I hope the lawyer does find a way to prove it. Good luck to him. We know he is gonna need all the luck in the world ;)

I believe it would be much harder if we would have a number of search engines with portion of traffic from each to fight for.

I'm sure the government has very good lawyers, but I have no doubt that Google also probably has some of the best lawyers on the planet. You don't get that big by not investing a lot in your protective side :)

This has nothing to do with blackhat seo but googles manipulation to show its own properties like blogger and youtube ahead of competitors.

While I'm not fan of Google, but when the Government manipulates search results its much worser than when a commercial company does that. Government should create infrastructure for healthy competition on the market, instead pushing their nose into the search algorithms.

Just imagine, you worked your ass off and created a successful business. Now, the government that enjoyed 30% (or more) of your profits feels that it didn't fuck you enough hires a prominent litigator to sue you for being just that - successful business. How would that feel?

It feels the same like somebody works his ass off building a quality site and gets penalized because a competitor blasted his site with xrumer. Google doesn't care about us and i don't care about google anymore. Away with them and their stupid algorithm!

They deserve it! They want quality, non profit sites on the top and make money with us, without giving a share. That strategy can't work! I don't build websites for fun.

To proov that google is manipulating the rankings on propouse, you need to understand how the algorithm works first, and that's not easy...especially if you don't have access to it ;)

I feel like they've probably been doing this for years. Nothing new.
