Could this be an explanation of why Reddit is so favoured in Google SERPs?

Reddit is selling off their content to Google for AI training purposes, netting them a cheeky $60 million a year:

I'm sure they already have much of that content scraped already!

Cue a load of 'Reddit post generator' templates in all the cool new AI writer tools.

Sure, it's a direct correlation. But not because Google bought their content for training, but because Google analyzed it and chose it as the best content. That's why it's bringing it up in the rankings, because the site has performed the best among all before and Google will now engage with them.
