Could someone tell me the general idea of how you make money on facebook vs seo?

What is the general idea? coming from an seo background how would you explain it to me? ie is a fb page like my homepage then and the replacement of seo is getting likes or what?

do i direct link to products form the fb page or not allowed and instead do it thru a website/landing page/review site?

Sort of right, your fan page is like a homepage, and seo is getting likes pretty much.
and yes do it through a website/landing page.

Basically, say you have you fan page (think of it as a blog) and every time you post something (a link to your landing page) a portion of you fans see that post. So if you have 100k fans, something like 20k will see the link. The numbers are always different though for each page and the type of fans you have (fakes, don't visit fb often, etc).

Ill show you a successful facebook account but this is a person not a page. It's the same idea you can set your personal account to accept subscriptions and you can have 5 million subscribers which is the same thing as friends but you are limited to 5000 friends. Ill pm you his url and you'll get the idea the second you see it.

    edit:
Wow he pulled some hacks or knows something most don't because it's the first time I see someone have an account that doesn't display his total subsciber amount...about 5 months ago he was in the 500k's so now it must be much more. Damn I'm posting his page here...let me know if anyone else has achieved a clean profile like him.

I have the same issue as the OP understanding the diffrence between fb and seo.
As the OP, I know seo and know every thing related to it.
But fb pages.. I just do not get it.

If I have a site about lets say "baby toys"

and created a fb page about it..
I do not see any reason why pp may like it or subscribe for it. correct me if I am wrong.

All big fb pages I came across do not have targeted traffic... build a page about funny animals then spam them once a week about pinky new bags!!!

even the example givin by BazookaTooth, I do not get it why ppl may like or subscribe his page!!
for me, I may not look for iphone or shoes at fb.. I would use google or amazon.

    I'm an FB neophyte, too.

This is what I understand thus far and I intend to begin putting it into practice this week. I hope you find it useful. Please also chime in with anything that could help me.

    1. The name of the account is important. I think people often tend to like a page for this reason alone; content being secondary. The name is used to send a message to their friends: "I hate guys who cheat;" "I'm a geek - deal with it."

    2. You can buy FB pages from brokers (don't ask me; I have no contacts) and should expect to pay upwards of $1 per 1,000 likes. Or you can grow them yourself (obviously).

    3. We all want passive income. So the idea is not to lose accounts through deletions. I need to play around with what gets deleted, but I expect the more innocent, funny pages have larger life-spans.

    4. Create a related website for each fan page. An autoblog is one option; a review page is another. Monetize with adsense (which I personally don't use) or relevant clickbank offers.

    5. I would imagine posting regular image and video updates to a page will help it grow. I don't think we have to worry about losing members (don't think people unlike very much). This is a good way to use viral growth and why page names are important because people are more likely to click the fan page links and like it.

    6. Here's what I don't understand:

    - Do we put our website url in the site field? (I mean, I assume so, but I don't know for sure . . . since we're marketing.)
    - Do you watermark all images and videos with your website url
    - Or do you simply post an update once a day with a link in it. (This seems risky. What if you have a 100K group and that link-update gets you deleted? So is there a better, more under the radar approach?)

Hmmm . . . I guess that's all that springs to mind right now.

    Oh..

    7. Have at least another one of your accounts as admin in case your primary account is deleted.

    8. Never share your network with ANYONE. People get jealous and hackers are always on the lookout to profit.

    9. I think it would be a good idea to develop a good working relationship with several Fiverr gig sellers who can help out with LIKEs and generally promoting your group. But I would use several Fiverr sellers so you don't expose your network to one person.

i think ppl 'blast' more with direct links to fans on facebook twitter and such but dont quote me that is my very vague memory of what i think i read ppl say.

i certinaly know they do on twitter. i dont think its agianst the ruies to do that is it? so long as its sort of believable, like how we post links on forums- ok if legit but gets banned if its obvious spam.

if thats how its done it certianly seems more straightforward, but i dont know if thats how its done so wanna see what ppl have t say on that.

actually its more tht you get the likes and stuff so ppl view your ;fanpage' like a website right and then theres a link.

someone please lift theis veil of ignorance form my eyes! :D
