I found a service that pings your website on thousands of other sites (social media, edu/gov etc). Do you think this could help improve my search engine rankings? The seller says it should. But I want to know what you think. Do you have any experience with this? Could it do more harm than good?

Also I don't understand how it works exactly. How is my website "pinged" on the other sites? What is the process?
