So if I search for my site I see it listed. www.mysite.com. So I know I am still in the index.

I had made it up to page 2 for my desired keyword search and now all of the sudden I am not even in the top 100.

Is it possible I got kicked out of the keyword search but not deindexed completely?

Yes, sometimes they make it so you can't get a certain keyword if they saw you spamming it or something. There's a reconsideration form that you could try once you've fixed whatever you did that they think is wrong.

For whatever reason, Google has decided that your site is not relevant/trustworthy(and other descriptions) enough to be at the top for this result.

The sandbox is better described as the trustfilter. Google places new websites in the trust filter for months until it makes a decision on whether your site is trustworthy or not.

If your site is very new and this is a low competition keyword then monitor it over the next week and see if it comes back, it may just be the Google Dance.

If it doesn't come back then it is likely Google has penalize your site or penalized a page/keyword.

Take a look at your site, remove anything that might have you penalized, then build backlinks more naturally. (Don't use anythin that claims to "blast" your site for 1,000,000,000 domains)

That's another thing, have you used a "submission" tool for backlinks recently?

These 10,000 backlinks tools are usually what has gotten your site penalized. In which case you've got two options. Spend 3-6 months whitehat or start a new site.

Yes I recently used an xrumer blast and statblaster and verifiedfile.com/seo pretty much lots of that kind of stuff.

This is weird though. The domain is southiecab.com if you search southie cab (southie is a neighborhood of Boston) I am right up there... im pretty much the entire first page.

However if you search Boston Taxi or Boston Cab.. what I had been trying to rank for. I was on the second or third page but now I am nowhere to be found in the first 100 results. I am either dancing or banned from a particular search but not sandboxed completely? I dont get it.

Just because you're no longer ranking well for that term does not mean that you've been penalised.

New sites benefit from something called QDF (Query Deserves Freshness) which is why you will see yourself rise up fairly high in the rankings initially. However, you will then fall back where you should rightfully be.

How to get back up to the top? Good quality links. Lots of them.

I have good experience with this sort of thing. What I'm noticing is that sooner or later, 90% of my sites which suffer the same problems as you eventually begin crawling back out of Google hell in a matter of months. If you are lucky it's only 1 month, but I recently had a site come back to around position 9 (subpage average) which had been nowhere for 5 to 6 months.

They do come back, just be patient, don't give up, and make sure you have a lot of sites to play with so that one going down will not be the end of the world.
