Could few backlinks on Yahoo answers suddenly penalize my website for one keword?

    This happened two months ago.

My site was on 30 - 35 spot for that given keyword (it is low to medium competition). No linkbuilding done yet.
I was looking for opportunities to make some targeted backlinks to rank little bit better for that kw.

So I checked google results for that keyword and saw bunch of few years old Yahoo Answers topics outranking my own site (sitting between 10 - 20 spot)
I replied to all of these topics (3-4) with various answers and URLs pointing to my site.

Few days later my site dropped to position 60 and never recovered for that keyword.

Today I checked again and I am on spot 90+

I'm wondering if I really did so much damage with these 3 - 5 links on yahoo answers? I cannot delete them :\

Adding links in forums and answer website especially necroposting is can definitely drop your rankings. I think a lot of it is going to depend on the anchor text distribution though. Did you use naked urls or optimized anchortext?

    Only naked URLs.
All backlinks I built for my website (less than 20) are on topic but "necroposting". :(

Necroposting is bringing back a thread that is really old. Its a pretty sure way of getting banned from most forums because there is usually only one reason someone does it.

I doubt Google penalized your site for few Yahoo answers links.
