I recently brought a small amount of redirected domain traffic to test (ie. less thatn 1000 visitors), and instantly it seems like im now in sand box. My site went from ranking in the top 3 for a whole bunch of keywords to completely nothing. I wouldnt have thought buying traffic would have any influence on rankings??

The only thing i can think of is google notices the really high bounce rate? but then if that was the case you could just send traffic like that to your competition and ruin their rankings?

    any insights?

In my experience, redirected traffic (and non-search traffic in general) has little to no effect on your google rankings. Traffic of most sorts will boost your Alexa ranking, but anything that happened to google was going to happen with or without the traffic.

Basically, anything that is an off-site change (i.e. not related to a change to the actual page you serve visitors) can't hurt you. Your ranks fluctuate quite a bit naturally by themselves anyway, that's probably what happened here. Some people call it the google dance.

Even if you were running adsense, it's unlikely that bad quality traffic would affect your ranking, but since it does have an effect on your CTR, you need to be careful there to avoid getting kicked off adsense.

Yea i get the feeling it may just be some sort of dance. however I havent added any backlinks or changed the content on my page in a long while, the only thing ive changed is the redirected traffic. thats what got me thinking. However i guess with google you will never really know
