Hey guys, I have a question about YouTube and the Copyrights: I can't find any articel of public judgements/punishments against people who uploaded stolen videos on YouTube. Are there NO people who really got in trouble or had to pay to the original owner/author? Or is YouTube just deleting The stolen videos ...and thats all - no consequences? Sry for my Bad englisch. English is not my native language. Bye, Pinger
Are you asking if you can legally get in trouble by stealing an uploading YT videos? If so, this is very very very unlikely.
I know that it is possible but i wonder why there are no public articels or something else about people who get punished (for stealing vids -explicit- on yt)!?
That's part of blackhat techniques doing minimal effort to get a big pay off using other ppls video and niches are necessary. Youtube does detect duplicate videos so make sure you change something in the video your stealing ex. length, add a watermark etc.
I know but you dont understand me. Im not new on YouTube. I earn about 1500 - 2000€ per month. So everything is fine. My question is: There are so many people on YouTube who are uploading stolen videos ....but there are NO articels (in blogs, Magazins, newspaper and so on) about companys/authors/owner who accused such YouTuber's. But why? If there are people who gets punished/judged (with high payments) because of -Uploading stolen Vids on YouTube- ....there must be something to read about this in the Internet. But there is nothig! Why?
Well so far they dont... Youtube is a grey zone on the web .. also if here was a case it would be very bad press for Youtube coz people would get scared.. that why is YT protecting as much as they can.... automatic strikes, content id match system, and so on.... but so far nothing big happend... and i dont think it will coz YT is to big.. i bet you can get in trouble much faster on other small video platfroms
YouTube is not a greyzone at all. If they receive a DCMA Take down then they act on it. YouTube will just ban accounts. If copyright holders wanted to pursue things legally then they could. The time, energy and expense involved makes it viable only for high profile cases or when they want to make a point. Read these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act https://www.youtube.com/yt/copyright/copyright-complaint.html https://www.eff.org/issues/dmca https://www.eff.org/search/site/youtube
So you are just looking to be entertained by blogs that host information about people being taken to the big house for stealing videos? Not gonna happen!
Entertain is the wrong word. I would like to inform me about "what happened to people who have stolen videos". And again: I dont mean the consequences on YouTube (flagging, banning and so on) - I mean the consequences in real life for these people (judgements, punishments). You can read about every little "crime" in the newspaper, Internet and so on. But you dont find any articels about YouTuber who getting busted by big companys and have to pay high penalties.
You are making very little sense. You know a person can get punished for copy right violations but still want to read about it? Sounds like entertainment to me. But I am in a crappy mood today so I mat be wrong. I am out of here!
but so far they didnt ever do something like "making" a point.... taking down channels is nothing new
There ARE cases out there, you just have to search for them. YouTube does not need to sue the person posting the copyrighted material. The COPYRIGHT HOLDERS sue and there HAVE been cases. If the COPYRIGHT HOLDERS send a DCMA Take Down then YT just delete the vid/ban the channel etc. COPYRIGHT HOLDERS have sued YT in the past and they have taken YT users to court. See my previous links.
