Is it okay to copy titles and meta descriptions word for word if the page is about the same product.
Or is it better to write your own?

How does google feel about this?

Bad idea. Googles current algo relies heavily on meta title and description to understand what a page is about. If you use dupe meta Google will penalize.

Yeah, unfortunately no one has invented a word press plugin that can auto optimize the meta info for googles current algo. People are only starting to understand how important meta info is. I use Yoast SEO plugin now, and just do everything manually and Ive gotten pretty fast at it:)
